DarkBattler: It's funny how personal preferences work. I would happily pay more for a game sold here without its achievements. I consider them a nuisance this much.
You can always turn achievements off in Galaxy, or avoid Galaxy altogether if they're such a nuisance to you. We cannot just enable achievements that aren't there though. There is literally no reason to disagree with people who ask for achievements.

avatar
DarkBattler: You, on the other hand, want them in all your games and that's absolutely fine, but what I don't understand is why don't you buy your games on Steam? You need a client to have achievements, so DRM-free games aren't really what you're looking for.
Galaxy and DRM-Free games aren't mutually exclusive. GOG offers us the best of both worlds, as long as developers play along. We get offline installers, should GOG ever go bust or decide to repo, and we get Galaxy for modern features. Why do people always act like we have to choose one over the other?

I disagreed with nobody. As I said, my tastes and Ancient-Red-Dragon's (or yours, it seems) are just different, which is perfectly fine. It just amuses me that something I loathe can be liked by someone else, and vice versa. You know? Tastes.

Using Galaxy for its modern features, I can understand. I gave in because it's too convenient for installing updates. It's true that Galaxy and DRM-free games aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but the achievements cannot be DRM-free. Like you said, you can keep your offline installers in case GOG shuts down, but the achievements won't be included.
Wil purchase this bundle and the Lil Hentai Games one .

They actually can. Some games have in-game achievements, like Elex 1. Some games have both in-game and platform-based achievements. Interestingly enough, many EA games tend to have both, sad that most of them are not on GOG. In-game achievements are DRM-Free, as you can imagine.

As for the online ones, I save the 100% completion banners GOG generates, in case they ever go down.

MarkoH01: You are correct with one thing: those achievements only work WHEN using the client ... but then that is the same with some MP functionality here on GOG and you'd hardly consider them "feature of the client".
Yes I would. Plenty of games don't need a client for their multiplayer. For those that do need the client I would absolutely consider the multiplayer a feature of the client. Am I crazy? Yes. Never claimed otherwise. So don't try to put words in my mouth.
What's the replayability factor of these nifty lil puzzlers? lol I mean...to each its own, but these seem to be the very epitome of no-effort involved. I think buying a centerfold, printing that on a card stock, using an actual jigsaw to cut the pieces, then solving it would be immensely more gratifying than this weak-ass effort. Brutal Legend is on sale. So is Sleeping Dogs. So are thousands of actual games that had some effort put into them. This is barrel scraping at its finest. As I said, to each his own...but actually get some value out of your money. I mean damn...buy Succubus or Agony, or Lust from Beyond, not this trite crap.

I never said you are crazy and I never put any words in your mouth I simply analyzed what it would mean to be "part of the game" and if you'd simple define it as you wish that's up to you - does not mean I would not correct it. Either sth. is made for the client and integrated in the client or it is integrated in the game during development - that is the simple definition of things.

I guess we are back to subjective tastes as always. What IS value for your money? Is it sitting in front of a screen and trying to combine A with B knowing that in most cases there's only one way to solve this problem because the dev wanted it to be? Is it fighting a boss battle, getting frustrated and throwing your keyboard or gamepad against the wall? Is it a relaxing walking sim with mostly nothing to do than pressing a key? Is it a stretegic game (which for me will always be work and not a game at all ;)) in which you are basically more thinking than acting? Is it a visual novel with or without choices in which you mostly read and build your own world or ... is it a simple jigsaw puzzle just like those you did when you were younger? For everybody "value for money is sth. different" - not just in games.

I know that I've done a lot of jigsaws when I was younger and I loved them. No replayability there as well but it was fun - because of the challenge. The most problematic thing I personally see with jigsaw puzzles in games is that there is so little space to move things around and I loved to spread my puzzles all over the floor of my room basically having to cross it just to get that missing piece I was searching for :) I don't see anything bad in wanting to solve jigsaw puzzles in a game (and there has to be a reason why so many devs include them in so many games) and I definitely see "value" in the game ... at least the 1,50 Euro they are asking for is probably not too pricey imo.

Like I said, it is a subjective matter. You might not even see the value or the fun I can see and that's perfectly fine as well but we all should stop thinking that our suvjective taste is probably the same as those of others - because more often than not that's not the case.

RPGler: I bought Dark Fantasy 1 and it seems like I can't download it like it is not even there to download.
Hi RPGler,

I have the same problem.

Are you able to download the game?

Hi. Still not able to. I already contacted support but their first advise didn't help. I returned the game and bought it again to see if that solves anything, it didn't. It even took several hours after I got my refund for the game to disappear from my account giving me the possibility to buy the game again. I also tried my luck with Dark Fantasy 2 but I can't download that either. I informed the support about everything but I am still waiting for their answer.

I went to check this site and I'm not sure.

It looks like there are no builds present for Dark Fantasy 2: Jigsaw Puzzle, Dark Fantasy: Epic Jigsaw Puzzle, Dark Fantasy: Jigsaw Puzzle.

Maybe that's why we can't download anything. We bought it when there didn't seem to be any game files.

Maybe I'll ask for a refund.
high rated
At the moment I was delighted with the 6 Need for Speed releases on gog, but then I read more carefully(

I thought the same. The support meant everything was fine. Maybe it is just mistake, wouldn't be unusual for GOG and a digital store. I might refund soon too, when they don't reply.

Would not be the first time GOG is selling games they have not uploaded ... however so far it only were missing OL installers and not missing ... welll everything. GOGdb usually is right and if they report there's no build, there's no build. What is GOG trying to do here? We know that they are pretty much incompetent with all things regarding tech but telling a customer who complains that "everything is fine" - are they out of their mind?

Edit: It has been confirmed on GOG discord that the product is missing right now. GOG product team has been informed and hopefully this will get fixed soon. I'd personally suggest to wait a bit longer until refunding again (maybe at least until Monday).

ROFLMAO!

But anyway, these releases get the community facepalm award for sure.
At least no one can complain that GOG is feeding us porn when in fact they feed us nothing at all.
