neumi5694: Saints Row 3 Remastered does run without Galaxy, but you need to start it through Galaxy if you want to change options.
If you do that wile offline, the options don't get saved. Same for the character designs and other ingame functionalities.

A solution was promised shortly after release, but so far nothing happened.
Wow, I've been looking at that game and not heard anything about that. Seems weird that a bigger deal would not have been made.

Not this again! When will you ever learn your lesson, GOG?

Finally, after more than three years, the D:OS issue seems to have been fixed. Larian "recently" released a new version that adds Brazilian-Portuguese localisation, which --- as a side effect --- also fixed the bug. The offline installers were updated today.

But only for Windows, it appears. As the file names for Mac and Linux appear to be unchanged, and named differently from the recent update afforded to Windows...

That's true.

However:
1) I don't know if the bug exists in the mac and linux versions
2) The linux version is not really relevant here, I believe, because there is no galaxy for linux

The mac version was updated in galaxy 8 days after the windows version (16 Mar 22 vs. 8 Mar 22), so perhaps the mac offline installers will be updated in 8 days?

Correct, but maybe someone wants the new translation.
Mr. Meyow, still doin' god's work.

Of course, you're right. But this is not what this thread is about.

I don't know if there's already a thread that lists games with linux versions lagging behind windows, but if there is, I'm sure it has tens, if not hundreds, of entries in it.

GOG has more or less abandoned linux, in my opinion.

Right, I see. Linux is the one I am interested in (though can use the Windows version if pushed). So the bug was/is related (in some way) to Galaxy ?. I briefly remember 'AB2012' mentioning it in a post about a year or so ago, but can't remember the exact time or details of said post, but was pretty shocked by the lack of any update ever being offered...

Edit: AB2012 talks about it on page one of this very thread (which is where I first read it, back then)... :)

The bug was not galaxy related, but was limited to the last two versions of the game (Chinese and Korean localisations added, respectively), so with galaxy one could go back to a previous bugless version (assuming one did not need Chinese or Korean support), which was impossible with the offline installers. Hence, the inclusion in this thread.

There were some reports that the bug might not have affected people who played in languages other than English, or who used a controller instead of KB&M, or on Mac, but these were not corroborated, so I just based my observations on my own installation (Windows, English, no galaxy).

I see, so (in this respect) Galaxy appeared to be the (only) way to revert back to a version before the bug happened. I guess I need to search what this bug actually is, and what its effect are and what platforms are affected. As the last update for Linux's filename end with CH (not sure what that denotes), with the previous update ending with CN, which I believe is the Chinese translation...

It's very easy to identify the bug. Open a late game save, and hover over a spellbook. If you can see the spellbook's level (e.g. Master), then there is no bug; if you can't, there is.

I believe both CH and CN denote Chinese (CN being the correct abbreviation, and CH being a typo).

Check the game's forum.
https://www.gog.com/forum/saints_row_series/bug_all_nongraphics_options_reset_to_default_on_game_launch_sr3_remastered

There is just nothing we can do about it. It's actually not the worst what Deep Silver / Voliton has ever done to us.
In SR4 they removed all online functionality but didn't bother to remove the buttons. So if you click one, the game crashes.
It's too bad that we can't provide a user ID (that's what they need Galaxy for) using a command line parameter.
