I have never played it, but I remember very vividly watching fragments of gameplay of it around 2001-2002 on some obscure satellite TV channel (Italian one, IIRC, there was a segment in the evening when there were presenting gameplay with no commentary) - in times when there was no Twitch or YouTube - and I was amazed by the water animation as character was running through puddles across the dungeons. Funny thing how such memories persist :-)

I always thought that was a console exclusive?

The original 2001 was a console exclusive. This is a remaster of that game, and has been also a console exclusive since May 7 2021, but they always said that this time a PC version would also be released later.

Are we talking a decent remaster or some Reforged type disaster?

I glanced through the console reviews and they're overall positive, but reviews are what they are, and the PC version is yet to be tested, so who knows.

It's not even a remaster, just a port of the game that support HD Resolutions, I think it's something good to tell the truth, the less they modify the original version, the better, it's less probable they break something. Still remember to play the original on PS2, it was super good and had an incredible water effect, like incredible even for today standars.

It's just an "amazing" work by the GOG team, and especially, apparently, by the marketers, that we find out about upcoming releases on GOG from Steam.

The creator of Survivalist: Invisible Strain wants to sell the game on GOG.

Alas... GOG has already rejected his previous game, so there's no guarantee that they'll accept his new one. Source:
