Crispy78: Hmm, no-one mentioned Shadowrun yet?
I did.
I said there are a number of games based on shadowrun.

dtgreene: Actually, I forgot about Shadowrun. I have only played the SNES game with that title, however, and I am unfamiliar with the p&p game, so I don't know how faithful that game is to the system.
The SNES title is totally unfaithful to the system (entirely gun/ranged combat), while the Genesis version follows it fairly closely.
Aethra Chronicles uses Rolemaster system.
Not pen & paper, but there are adaptations of the casual tabletop RPG Hero Quest and I think of Space Crusade, too.
Due to the horrendous licensing from Wizards Of The Sword Coast, all other games other than those with Forgotten Realms, or D&D in the title. I mean, even using the word Spa*ce*arine here would result in jail no?

Rune seems to have some sort of manual on the goodies.
Also, the KOTOR ones are based on a D&D-esque (but not D&D) d20 game.

And here are some others:

Hero Quest (1991) + Return of the Witchlord (1991)
Hero Quest II: Legacy of Sorasil (1994)

Space Hulk (1993)
Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels (1995)
Space Hulk (2013)
Space Hulk: Ascension (2014)

Not sure if that counts, but I think there are also videogame adaptations of Steve Jackson's and Ian Livingstone's CYOA books and the Lone Wolf series.

If I remember correctly you have a dice pool, a number of D6 based your skill level. You then throw these dice at the GM and likewise from them. Who ever has the most bruises, looses.

And bloodbowl, with the beautiful miniatures your mate has spent months painting is played like subuteo.

The above are two reasons why mixing alcohol and gaming can be bad.

Not quite....

Alright the basics of the D6 system for Shadowrun is for each point in the skill you have, you get an additional D6 you can roll. If you have say computers and your skill is 3, you roll 3 D6's. 1's always fail.

What's interesting is they are sorta explosive dice, meaning if you get a 6, you roll again and add the result on top. This means there's difficulties above 6, and 13 is probably the highest difficulty you'd see most of the time based on the difficulty to get it.

As for attacking, if you hit them with any of the dice then you hit and do damage, and for every additional 2 you hit them with on the difficulty they go up a damage class/type, from light/medium/heavy/critical, etc.

The SNES on the otherhand is basically hitpoints and damage per attack (1 per second).
I was being silly. With 3rd ed you had a karma pool and specialisation. It was possible to have 10+ dice pool.

Anyway found a classic game

Shame about the film, it was back to front. The reason the future is using ancient tech is because of the big bad evil can control and corrupt via tech. People were not using STeam (actually they where chemical/nuclear in game) powered space craft until after they unearthed the ancient evil.
I've never played tabletop Shadowrun, but I enjoy listening to Actual Play podcasts of lots of games, and just love the sound of someone rolling huge handfuls of D6s.

Anyway, if you'll take 'games based on PnP licenses that don't use the rules', there's Crimson Skies.

You'd love herosystem. Herosystem at times there are a lot of dice. I think the most dice i rolled at one time was 26? Then you go through the process of adding the body (2-5 & 6) and then again for how much stun it equals; Or if it's a killing blow, how much body straight up, then use a d6 multiplier for stun...
