The Lost Ember Game Soundtrack was Bought on GOG Galaxy, but cannot find the soundtrack listing in my application. Where is the soundtrack listed if I do not own the Lost Ember on GOG galaxy, but bought the soundtrack inside gog galaxy??

Thank you!

unless you own the game on gog. you cannot access it (or other dlc). weird and sad, yes.
best to contact support for a refund.

I don't use galaxy, so don't know how to do it there, but...

On the website, here:
1) go to your account: https://www.gog.com/account
2) Type "Lost Ember" in the small search box
3) Click on the item
4) A window will open
5) On the right side, under extras, you should find the soundtrack
6) Click on it to download it (zip file)

Hope this helps.

That's true for most soundtracks, but not all. Lost Ember soundtrack is one of the exceptions, I believe. It's not a DLC from GOG's POV, but a standalone "game". So even people who don't own the game can buy it, and it has its own box in one's library, separate from the game itself.

surprised So it is doable on GOG.

Yes. It is surprising what GOG manages to do when publishers insist.

I'm guessing this happens when the game and soundtrack rights belong to different people (e.g. developer and composer) and the soundtrack owner wants to be able to sell it regardless of whether people want to also buy the game or not.

This seemed to work. They just need to update GOG galaxy with its own tab for other digital content that is bought through the GOG galaxy Client. For Example, move digital goods to another tab altogether, listed by product or whatever the person who made the digital goods wants it to be named as. It does show up correctly on this site, for reference.

Thank you everyone for the quick replies!

Agree, with both people, it is surprising and good that GOG does this. Steam you have to buy the game, which I did a year back (Generally I do buy the game with the OST, but I have 3 platforms on my computer to buy from (GOG, EPIC, Steam).

$17 for an mp3 OST, that's a bit much.

That's over the price of several good games, what kind of up their butt thinking are they doing?

Is this one of those games where you can literally play the OST by pointing a competent media player at the game files?

I don't know who is responsible for making such decisions, but I have on occasion been able to get a soundtrack from Steam independent of owning the game ... and I barely use Steam. Most soundtracks at GOG, from what I have seen in a few years, require you to own the game. In fact, aside from a few specials GOG has done, this is the first time I have ever heard of one being purchasable separately.

There are at least 4-5 such soundtracks on GOG (last time I checked, which was when MaGog was alive). You can identify them by looking at their game page. Unlike most soundtracks, they do not have the section that reads "To play this game you also need...".

The ones I remember off the top of my head are:
- https://www.gog.com/game/owlboy_soundtrack
- https://www.gog.com/game/my_friend_pedro_soundtrack

Thanks, good to know ... though I generally don't pay that much attention to soundtracks, even though I like to get them if I can ... preferably included with a game. Sometimes I take a gamble, if dirt cheap ... and I like what I hear in the video clip(s) enough.

I guess if I knew a particular soundtrack real well, I might be inspired to buy it on its own.

I did once go through all the Free Games listings to see if any soundtracks were available for free and didn't require purchasing the game itself first. Same with artwork etc. No luck there.
