When I checked their store earlier today (after reading an article about their legal fracas with Nacon) it clearly read and still reads in the system reqs: "Internet connection: required only on game launch" That in itself would make me assume it's a form of DRM. Was that descriptor there when you bought it? I certainly can't find a mention of DRM-free there or on their main site for The Sinking City. The press release is the only place where I saw that, and the author of that letter may have been in error (or their view on DRM-free is really odd). *shrug*

AB2012: I don't even think a DRM-Free version of the game actually exists anywhere...
There would be, but with the shit-fight Frogwares has on their hands with Nacon who knows.

Until you try to buy the game, that is.

Huh. So it is.
The Sinking City has been pulled from Steam and other storefronts
They must have a very loose definition of DRM. Thanks for the warning.

On an unrelated note, It's strange that Frogwares has a decent number of their games on GOG. Yet, when I go to their website, I don't see a single link to GOG.

Yep, it's super weird. I followed a link from today's press release on their legal battle which specifically said "DRM free" as well. The people who handle their store are "investigating" and will get back to me in "3-4 days." I don't expect much, but it's blatant false advertising. I assume their thinking is that it doesn't have Denuvo or Tages or whatever, but it's still inaccurate.

It still doesn't make much sense. The point of having games on an additional storefront is to increase exposure and sales. I don't see what they would lose by linking to another storefront.

Nothing strange about that.
It's the same with pretty much every other dev or publisher too. They simply cannot be arsed to put up at least a link to the GoG page of the title(s) in question, even if their life depended on it.

Btw why every publishers' own store is expensive?

I might say that they don't want to confuse the customer. They want to direct you to the purchase without having to think where to make it and Steam is the default. I just saw a Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York commercial on Facebook and it said "availble on Steam" without mentioning other storefronts at all. GOG is not big enough yet for many devs to care to mention, when they know it's a small slice of the sales. People who buy on GOG have less choice and are probably aware that the game is available on their preferred platform. While competing for sales on Steam, where the big moeny is, is harder and gets the focus. Just my 5 cents.

If it really shows DRM-free prior to the puchase I'd say it's perfectly clear that they'll have to refund here.
