I'm new to gog, how come there are no free to play games on gog? Also what about MMO games?

How would you get old MMO games to work? Would you have GOG host servers for a uncertain amount of subscribers who would have to pay per month? That is how you would get most old MMO games to work HOWEVER, companies would have to hand over server code to GOG. Would you want to fragment user bases for certain games further by adding a new location for download? I'm not talking about free to play games but actual games that you pay per month to play.

I was just curious, I am actually not a fan of free to play either. That new UT game is sadly free to play, hopefully the quake game isn't.

GOG doesn't sell games with micro-transactions (a.k.a. in-app purchases with real money).
Besides that, there would be the whole question of "Are multiplayer-only (or multiplayer-centric) games that require an Internet connection OK to offer in a store/service that (nowadays) primarily identifies itself as a DRM-free games store?" There are still a lot of people around here who would say "No."

If by free-to-play you mean mainly multiplayer games which are free to start but there are microtransactions if you want to do good in the game... I guess GOG hasn't seen the point yet to release any such games, especially as they pretty much require some sort of DRM, either from GOG (Galaxy) or the publisher/third-party service.

Maybe some will come at some point, maybe at some point GOG wants its own flagship "free-to-play" multiplayer game on Galaxy, like e.g. Team Fortress 2 and some others are on Steam. A Witcher team-based shooter?

GOG tends to be VERY nitpicky about their selections for what they do and don't allow on their store. We have this joke around here about things being "too niche", because this is what GOG has often told developers as a way of saying "We're sorry, but we don't want your game on our store because we don't think anybody here will buy enough copies of it." There's no way in heck they're going to pull in a free-to-play or MMO game because, for one, you can't exactly make money off that, and for another thing, it would no doubt be met with VERY poor approval from the community.

The only exception I can see them making is if they were to produce a free-to-play/MMO game themselves and use it to promote Galaxy, somewhat like Valve did with TF2 making it Steam-exclusive.

Also there are no Free to Play (F2P) video games on gog.com because a lot of us don't want video games with microtransactions to be sold.

And CD Projekt RED doesn't seem to like them at all, especially the Pay to Win (P2W) ones.

Just because he made an account a long time ago doesn't mean he actually bought anything at the time or has been a frequent user of the site. He could have had the account just for the free games and then decided to buy something or post on the forum just recently.

Free to play games rely on micro transactions, advertising or other means on revenue generation which to me personally is just a con and thankfully Gog at this time is not releasing them.
Mmo's are online only and as such do not come under the DRM free heading as they cannot be played offline single.player campaign.

I dislike most part of F2P games, but there are some good ones. I think is too complicated at the moment for GOG to implement such games.

Guys, "free to play" is a term that's used to describe something different from "freeware" and "free games". So while there are (mostly) "free games" and (some) "freeware games" on GOG, the OP is right in saying there are no "free to play games".

Anyway, AFAIK there is not a single game on GOG that can't be played offline*, without needing a client or any additional account, and that's something of a unique selling point for GOG and what the (veteran) userbase expects of them. MMO's just don't fit into this.

(* As a sidenote, I'm not sure about Warsow. Can you actually play that offline in single player mode or is this the exception to the rule? I never knew what to make of that game ...)

I've only ever put money into F2P games when I enjoy them. It's actually the perfect marketplace. You get enjoyment and pay what you feel the game is worth, The dev makes more money when their game is better. I love it. When F2P need transactions to advance easily/at all then I quit having played completely free. Pay 2 win is not a good model, and I personally punish it with $0. Many Free to Play games deserve a little cash. They entertain me, and their premium stuff is worth the cost... Well, I like to buy occasionally.
