The edit habit is hard to break. The 10 minute rule can be even harder, until you've learned to watch for it.

Tips from someone who's made some mistakes:
-Wait for the timer on your previous post to read at "11 minutes" before posting again. A post by someone else in the interim will also work. If you have a lot to post, you can ask for a bump at the beginning/end of a post (make sure to include the bump request in the post, don't edit it in).
-Be very careful if you start on a new post while waiting for that timer to elapse. The reflex to hit that "Post my message" button when you've finished can be very, very powerful.

To mod(s): first mission - 3 members crew; is the captain a part of the crew (captain + 2 members), or does he go along side the crew (captain + 3 members)? Or is it up to the captain to choose?

The function of the "Captain" is solely to choose who goes on the mission. The captain can include himself on the mission team, but he does not have to do so. Once the captain has chosen a team, it is up to the entire player group to vote on whether to accept or decline a team. Once a team is accepted, it is solely up to the team members to decide whether they (individually) submit a Pass or Fail for a mission.

I was actually curious if the captain could pick himself.

I don't like the idea of the captain including himself, especially on the first mission. Seems like a good way for a Spy to blame someone else for a fail.

I believe all votes are made public after everyone have voted.

@Leonard - in the signup thread you indicated that the initial captian was not chosen at random. Can you share how the captain was chosen?

Well, if that is the case, then I think of two things:
- my guess now as to who could be a spy is basically "anyone of them", so I am as good with the current team proposal as I would be with any other proposal
- Lifthrasil is making a smart choice of including himself into the crew. That is, if he is not a spy, he is reducing chances of spies infiltrating the crew, thus making a better chance of mission success. In other words, Lifthrasil's choice of crew is statistically better for us.

Basically, I would agree with the current proposal unless someone has anything else to say. Actually, what do the members themselves think - JMich, HijacK, anything to say?

We should get more team votes, more data. The standard should not be to be too trusting, but the opposite.

The team votes are to be kind of simultaeous, so a spy does not have a easy choice to vote yes when he'd want to vote no or vice versa from seeing other votes. So they will be public. But are semi public in the interim and via PM to simulate the simultaneousness.

The way you do it on the tabletop is you hold the vote in your hand, and everyone shows at same time.
The mission pass / sabotage votes you put the vote on the table, shuffle them, and then reveal.

The yes/no vote by all players are sent in and then posted in a complete list. This is to stop anyone having an advantage of knowing what other players have already voted.

I was just joking, the captain was chosen randomly from the 9 players.

The spies were also chosen randomly.

The paranoid in me is pondering what happens if Lift is a spy trying to set us up.
If he is a spy, I found it doubtful that he would pick a second spy, since 2 spy votes mean the team is unlikely to be picked again for the rest of the missions. So I find two spies unlikely.
Now, if Lift is indeed a spy, would he go for pass or fail? A fail on the first mission still means we may be better off benching all three of us, since that would mean the other 6 include at least 4 resistance and 2 spies.

If we do get 3 passes though, nothing can be gleamed about the team.

So something tells me that we won't be getting a fail on this mission, since that would mean at least one spy getting benched. But considering this is the first resistance game I'm playing, no idea if that is actually a valid strategy for it.

Hmmmm. I don't know. It's weird to suspect the captain on the very first mission. I give you the benefit of the doubt. JMich's "in and out" remark sounds like something a spy would say. :P Or a burglar. I know I said that when I stole a watermelon form the University's cafeteria to impress a girl. Long story. Will share it later along with wild party stories.

Jokes aside now, let's do it. Voting is the only way we get information, outside of analyzing mission results and crews. So we have to begin from somewhere. I vote Yes.

This being said, I will attempt to post some calculations on a pattern that could perhaps help us increase the odds of succeeding in missions. I think there is some kind of more efficient way of going in about this than just gut feelings.
