Bookwyrm627: He says he doesn't have a strong read, and somehow that means I'm his second biggest suspect? Where would you say Blotunga ranked in Pooka's suspicions?
avatar
Microfish_1: I was perhaps trying to read too much into it, and base my play off what a scum!HSL would play, as he was a good scumcoach in the last game, and i think the mafia in this game might try similar strategies;
Surely I'm reading this wrong.

Did you really say you're basing your play (for this game) off what scum!HSL would do? If you're town, why in the world would you use scum play as a guide?

Microfish_1: for now, though, you got your wish

@Mod, Unvote Bookwyrm
I think you are misunderstanding the situation here. I don't want your unvote. I want your flip.
sorry, Yogsloth, I originally thought it was more obvious than your read (and my consecutive reread) showed it to be. My apologies.

avatar
Bookwyrm627: Yog explicitly declined Blotunga's lynch. I'm not sure what to make of that yet.
avatar
dedoporno: That's my point.
good point re Blot/Yog, i guess.
avatar
Microfish_1: I think one of the 4 who didn't play in last game are scum, as well as one or two of those who did.
avatar
dedoporno: You mean to tell me 2 or 3 of us 10 players are scum??
If this is sarcasm, I'm going to ignore it.
avatar
Microfish_1: ALSO: while we're on the subject, what in the world is up with
????
That is one of the most seemingly off-topic serious answers (and taken as such by Blotunga)!
avatar
dedoporno: Looks pretty sensible to me. One might even say it's sensible of the commonly type. Solid content right there.
um, what? that middle sentence is very unclear.
The first 4 times that I read ZFR's comment it made exactly 0 sense as an on-topic post. The only way i could figure it being on-topic was as a scum-code to report on success/failure of a night action.
Until ZFR put it in context of his other post in game 57, it did not make any sense.

Here's the translation for Dedo: "It was a common sense statement." The 'Solid content' was almost certainly sarcasm, since Blotunga's statement was incredibly obvious.

Blotunga said "Depending on people's choices when trent asked, we can have lots of power roles, albeit some more useful than others."

Which is a no brainer. It's pretty much the definition of how power roles were distributed this game.

ZFR's response was highlighting just how basic a statement it was. ZFR could have conveyed the same meaning by responding "Yes. Also, water is wet." These are things that don't need saying because everyone should already know them.

Sort of. I am basing my reading of all others' play in part based off of what HSL said to his fellow scum in the previous game.

Based off of the quick-topic night mafia chatter, I have learned somewhat (I hope) some of the strategies that mafia use (from HSL coaching two players who had not played mafia in some time), and I am looking for others who are applying them in this game. I am not using them myself, obviously; again, I am on the lookout for hints that others might be using them. Is that clearer?

Until you actually vote for Blot yourself, I have 0 reason to believe this last sentence. There are 2 possible situations:
1) For all I know, scum!Book wants one townie to attack another townie.
2) If you're town!Book, I still don't quite see it unless you are also willing to vote for Blot, as you seem to be pushing him vs yourself, which IMO you shouldn't unless you are sure of his guilt (and are willing to vote thusly). Otherwise, you're just saying words and pushing others without backing up your words with actions.

-----------------

I appreciate your translation of Dedo's comments; I don't read/pick up on sarcasm very well.

Yes, blot's statement was obvious. At the time, I thought he might have been laying out a postulate for a further logic chain, but he didn't continue with it as I recall.

Re ZFR: Ah, I see. Thanks.

What saddens me most is not you misunderstanding my statement, but you thinking if I were encoding something this is what I"d come up with :(
Sorry, ZFR, but I'm suspicious of everyone. Maybe it was way too obvious to be hidden code, but I figured "if everyone is ignoring it, did they not see significance a one-line comment? Am I on to something? Let's push it and see."

I did you a gross injustice, and I apologize. I should have realized that you are cannier than that. Remember, i;ve only played 1.1 games with you so far, so I don't know everyone all that well yet.

But the character counter software still increments so we're slowly but surely getting that 500 word essay done. Extra credit has to be on the way!

You're killing me, Smalls.
it's nothing personal, i just trust no-one except myself.

Korotan: ..........

Anyway vote me or vote me not,
..........
That's how the game is played.

avatar
Microfish_1: .............

Also, I see one of Book, Yog, Flub, and Joe being scum, just based of 1/4 of players (about) being scum; I haven't played against any of them before, and thus don't know their styles.

.................
Four out of nine are suspicious.

Microfish_1: .............

..........
Six out of nine are suspicious now. Okay.

I'm assuming you don't think you're scum, so that leaves one player alive you don't suspect.

Who dat is??
I will say again.

HypersomniacLive is an extremely dangerous persona non grata.

He is anathema to all that is flowers, candy and teddy bears.

To model anything after him is the worst possible decision.

(also I'm really shit at math)
So, sorry I've been distracted.

I'm playing in another mafia game that started Monday and is already over 16,000 posts.

microfish seems like he's really flailing, but i don't know him

And Bookwyrm is still way too reasonable

dat nightkill tho

also, gentle reminder that flub is town, thank you
avatar
yogsloth: also, gentle reminder that flub is town, thank you
Based on what?

Also @Bookwyrm: are you trying to buddy up? Though at this point probably I'm not the most towny looking person, but that's just how I play my role anyway, so it's not really an AI.

Anyway, at this point my only suspect is Microfish, more a gut feeling than anything. Of course the scum could be among the lurkers, it's easier to hide there, on the other hand it's beneficial for scum to appear as pro-active as possible while misleading.

And yes, sometimes I do state the obvious, but I usually do that to remind people of it.

Not teddy bears :'(

Yes, but shouldn't one try to learn from one's superiors? HSL far outstripped anything i had considered possible bfore my first game. Therefore, I am forced to respect him (and all the others here who have played more than I have, insofar as it is advice offered outside of (or with regard to more than) this game for as long as I am alive in this).

avatar
flubbucket: I'm assuming you don't think you're scum, so that leaves one player alive you don't suspect.

You assume correctly. I don't need to suspect myself. I know I'm innocent.

the players are:

pooka (ded)
me (innocent)

book
yog
flub
joe

dedo
koro
blot
zfr

i suspect that up to 3 of those 8 are scum, and at least one of the first 4 is (but IDK their playstyle, so....). THis would force at least one of the latter four to also be, with one "floating" who's ID idk.

As Yog mentioned, I'm not doing as well in this game as in my previous one. I'm not sure why, exactly, but I'm stumbling a bit. Partly I'm scared to commit (trying to live and not be either misslynched or NK'd) unless something is clearer than daylight at noontime. Maybe I was overeager to "go out and do a good job for God, King, & Country" that I tripped over my shoelaces and went face-first into the mud.

My gut says Joe is innocent.
It also says I (strongly) suspect Blot.
