I couple of days ago, when doing some redecorating, I found a stash of old gaming magazines. Most were from 2000-2010, but there were some from way back like 1997. And I have to say, going through all that nostalgia hit me hard. Silly as it may sound, I even gota bit emotional. Reviews of the first KOTOR (though they decided to put Judge Dread vs Death on the cover of that issue :D), TRON 2.0 and Max Payne 2, previews for Return of the King and World of Warcraft (you know, that game just might be on to something)... going further back even previews for the first Fallout. Man, what a trip.

But less nostalgic and maybe more interesting were reviews and previews in some of the oldest issues for games I forgot about and never even played. Games not found on GOG, and never even mentioned when people talk of old games they'd like to see here. So I decided to list some of those, give them some attention, maybe hear from some of you who might have played them.

Clandestiny - a great looking cartoon graphics point & click I'm honestly amazed I don't remember at all.

Magic the Gathering Battlemage - I remember a couple of MTG games, but not this one. Some kind of card game/RTS hybrid? Looks a bit weird, but could be fun...

Down in the Dumps - another fun looking point & click. The graphics perhaps didn't age great, but it still looks quite unique.

Saga: Rage of the Vikings - well, they may not be a shortage of classic RTS games on GOG, but hey -this one has Vikings! And RAGE!

Asghan - the Dragon Slayer - so I guess this is like Tomb Raider but with dragons to slay? How is that not more well known?

Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter - looks like a fun sci-fi FPS with some space combat sequences.

Never played it, but I can recall hearing about Down in the Dumps at the time.
There are certainly quite a few old titles whose re-publication on Gog might be interesting. For some reason I had to think of this:

Played the demo at the time, and I think it was decent enough. But seems to have been totally forgotten.

Here's a let's play:

Mace Griffin I've heard about, then forgotten about, but now that you've brought it up it looks amazingly fun.

Wishlist entry.

I remember playing Down in the Dumps. It was a fun little game I bought somwhere around 1999 or so. I enjoyed it back then.

Here's a longplay video on Youtube

Actual gameplay starts around the 9 minute mark.

I liked Mace Griffin even though its story was paperthin it did have good action and had seamless transition from FPS to spaceflight as well as an excellent bombastic soundtrack.

I have both of those on disc in big cardboard boxes.

Don't think I ever got around to playing Clandestiny, but I did try Asghan - the Dragon Slayer, which was quite clunky on the PC I had back then, so moved on to something else, fully intending to get back to it one day on a better PC ... still not happened.
