After what must have been rather a violating experience, in Paris, of Chelsea supporters pushing a person off from a metro, I must now feel somewhat worse about ManU and Arsenal:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/mar/05/abusive-chanting-chelsea-doctor-sexism-manchester-united-arsenal

I love footie (=football) - and also would like to feel free to maintain my dislike of Chelsea.

But when Chelsea chief medical officer is chanted about to show her titties because she happens to have a pair...

How about it; then?
wow. just wow. wtf.

Well, given what's reported I understand disliking these hooligans, but I don't see why you'd feel obligated to stop disliking Chelsea just bcos a doctor of theirs was harassed.

I assume sanctions or fines will be incoming. Generally speaking, what do you think of blaming the clubs for their supporters actions?

Sorry to be a little provocative, but US does not exactly the same concept of football - so do not be too mindhumped if we Europeans assume, mostly I hope, that footie is a democratic game; the beauty of which should be accessible to all.

When I lived in the US, I was pre-warned that for Super bowl, probably the adverts would be nice, but the game would suck. It was that New England Patriots tight lose to New York Jets, I think - and what a game it was, and what waste of money those adverts were, really! Is this not just a little bit screwed up mentality?

Plus I see no need for "cheer leading" - actually, if the cheer should come from the quality of play. But if it is there just to provide a chance of ogling, then surely mixed teams would be more appropriate, eh! ;-) But with football in Europe, you will never see that.
Well, with a bit of luck one day they will need medical attention. If it happens to be a woman,
then I'll bet everything I own that they will be respectful....
As for soccer,it's not my game...

I feel I must tend towards solidarity, because it just seems too much piss-poor behaviour around football this season.

Is this not, on its roots, a game for the working classes - those who are not super-0privileged - and one that for example Eric Cantona claimed to have learned on streets of Marseille on balls stuffed out of make-shift things?

I wonder, why is this thread now just two replies, only, the first one whatever it is, and yours, tentatively pushing back a bit, but still nicely a one that is willing to engage.

Am I foolish to think that true footie fans hate:

- banana throwing crap
- pushing person off a metro in Paris (I think of that Somali child pushed off local train in Finland, still today...)
- sexism - unkindness and hideous rudeness towards the Chelsea chief medic, and things like Z. Ibrahimovich thinking it was funny to say that best of female soccer players should be highly satisfied to receive a bicycle with his autograph (as opposed to more tangible "sportswoman of the year" award). Or maybe he really meant it, eh?
- life threatening violence (did that guy thrown to river in Madrid, I think it was, die, I cannot recall),
- vandalizing historical sites like some bluaady ISIS (Feyernoord fans in Rome I think it was)

If so, why do we think this is ... sort of ...normal / okei, or something?

AND: happy Int'l Women's Day to all!!! :-D

Oh well, in view of what Chelsea pays, I trust they will just suck it up, whatever their private thoughts, eh! Thence this is really not about players, except when they individually should be punished for on-pitch behaviour, but about supporters.

What is your game, then?

And do you think that "out with titties" or banana throwing - most distasteful but persistent European football crowd behaviour, especially in Italy; regrettably because this is a country I love - would be home there?

UK is a democracy where a person can't express themselfs [paradox]

In your work place, you would ask your colleagues to bare their chests - or you would gladly welcome such request unto yourself?

You might not love football, but pray do not confuse self-expression with being without manners. Methinks!

Just like the goverment, have select lists of women, and ethinic people for the lords/westminister.

The BBC and the Guardian newspaper has fucked up the UK with thier liberal shit.

try being a white male hetero in the UK.

an example, I was in a pub one night, and a bloke had a go at me, so I smashed his face in, all of a sudden this person was crying homophobic attack, to me it was just a bloke who got on my nerves. or course if I knew the person was gay I would have done nothing, and just got stabbed.

they want equality when it suits them

PS I treat everyone the same, don't care if your black white green yellow, gay Bi lesbo, you want equality I give that.

STOP using the colour of your skin and your sexual orientation as an excuse. if you want to be equal be equal.

You're not on your own - I totally agree. You can add Sepp Blatter with his disgraceful comments i.e. Women's football would be more interesting if they wore shorter shorts. This is the president of FIFA - appalling.

Also, the abuse Sian Massey-Ellis has received as a assistant referee (lineswoman) is also unacceptable.

And..?

I do not kid when I say that in sports there should be universal solidarity, and maybe you should consider those two links when assessing rugby - you shrug it off, or you think it should not stand?
