How much regional discount do you get on Steam?
On GOG, you get -27% (on average) on 51 games.

Standard discount for Brazil on steam regarding to the US base price is cca 40% off and more. Minimum discount is around 36%.

Deadalic games for example are 60% off on Steam in regard to the us base price for Brazil. Definitely steam is better for them at the moment looking at magog prices and steam prices site.

Sorry, just returned from them. Thaos' butt has been kicked in deliberately good measure.

Let's hope next regional language package will be yours. Judging by http://steamspy.com Brazil has big representation in Steam, probably here as well.

Pheace: Nothing's changed there actually. In the initial thread about it Nordic made clear the non-static prices for their games on GOG were the issue. They didn't want to be unfair to all the other retailers they had deals with and they didn't feel it was worth the extra workload for their (small?) company to contact/update those deals every time GOG changed their pricing.
That's the point. GOG is now happy to implement regional pricing even on older games, and they've already done the conversion to local currency support, ergo the reasons for removing the games from the catalogue are now gone. And even if GOG counters with "oh no, it's just the Russian Discount for Classics, not across-the-board regional pricing", that'll probably change in a few months as well. The pattern is now established.

ZFR: There is also Teenagent and the other free games. Unless the Russians got a discount on that too??
Not tracking the free stuff, unless they start adding prices to those too.

HiPhish: Yes, it does suck for people in places with a standard below Russia when they have to pay the standard price, but
But tough luck, fuck them. Simple as that.
Disgusting move by GOG.

I feel like the only thing left between GOG and Steam is DRM, which we already have to a certain extent. (CD keys or sort-of-mandatory online accounts, it's shady business with some games here) There are so little reasons to keep getting games here. :(
Why did this become just another store on the website? The grey color is somewhat fitting....

The drm-free will finally leave for good when certain single player games will be only available on the galaxy client and not on the galaxy store here. This will definitely happen and soon. Afterall the unbundling has already shown gog want's only the client side left for use.

I hope this will never happen. I'm really afraid that you will be right though.
If Galaxy will ever get to be mandatory, I'll just keep my downloaded library and leave GOG. :-(

It's a really sad day for equallity among users. :-(
Another one after the region locked games. :-(
Since the introduction of regional pricing it was sure that this scheme would expand and become the standard, as publicers are "naturally" greedy. That's the reason why there shouldn't be any regional pricing option here.

So - Russian language support added -> (almost) all games become significantly cheaper.
German language support added -> Censorship!

Nothing at all wrong with this...

Also lets not forget the following disingenuous statement which was made to appease the masses in the "Getting back to our roots" thread.

"Two: We will adamantly continue to fight for games with flat worldwide pricing."

With only a small number of flat priced games remaining compared to the rest of the GOG games catalgoue, this certainly turned out to be a bold faced lie.

Matruchus: I don't know but I seem to remember gog implemented the same regional locking for russian gifts a couple of day after steam announced their new regional locking system. I might be wrong though.
Its only been implemented for the Witcher 3 so far it seems as even Pillars of Eternity: Royal Edition, the most expensive game on GOG is giftable from Russia.

I think the tutorial was too hard.
I from Russia, and I against the regional prices because I am afraid that people will start reselling games from cheap regions. It will break economy of the site and will spoil it.
If GOG enter the regional prices sometime, they need to think over system of gifts in cheap regions. For example purchase for itself at the regional price, and purchase by a gift at the global price. It will keep stability, I consider.

In reply to those saying we did not sufficiently announce it: the reason for the price changes were explained in the news post, in which we announced launching the site in Russian, and was discussed by users in the news post's thread.

To save you clicking time, here's the fragment:

With an all-new website language, localised customer support, and a dedicated Russian forum, we're hoping to become the right place for all of our Russian-speaking gamers. We’re also adjusting our prices in those regions. For over a year we’ve been offering games at lower prices in Russia and other independent countries that emerged from the USSR, places where game prices have historically been lower than in western markets. Starting today, more games will be priced appropriately for these territories. We've decided to adjust our pricing to the realities of the market, to avoid a sense that you have to pay more to get your games DRM-free or that GOG.com games are more expensive than other stores that operate in those regions.

Just in case you wondering, introducing these price changes won't affect the way gifting works today on GOG.com.

Basically: extending our website to include localised language versions means we'll reach more gamers and game developers (as developers from countries that use languages we've got so far will be more inclined to have their games featured).

However, adding localisations has consequences - for instance, as someone pointed out, having a large German customer base (especially with a German "storefront") meant we had to regionally lock 2 titles that are completely off limits sales-wise there. Reaching more Russian customers meant we had to price our games so that those Russian customers would at all want to buy (so that we can get more games from Russian-language developers and un-DRM some more than just the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Mount & Blade series).

We're not moving in the direction of DRM. We're not going to stop making games available on the site that will be available on Galaxy. We're being 100% open about the price changes and not covering anything up, like some conspiracy theorists may believe, so please, do your best not to panic and simply ask ;)

So if it is best to ask, I'll do so again, since I never got an answer in the announcement thread.

What exactly does this mean in regards of gifting. Does this mean new, expensive games will be locked from gifting like Witcher 3 or will this be on a case to case basis?
