wwee: Space: Above and Beyond.
So few that know this series:(

Way before times, poor marketing..And yet, a great series.
I really like the Rama books.

Exoanthrope: Probably Dune for me, although I have yet to read all the books. They sit on my shelf taunting me.
Oh my God read them! The first is certainly my favorite and nothing really comes close; but they're all very interesting. Even as they get progressively more odd (plot wise - though I always felt, with the exception of the first few, plot was less of a driving force behind the "series" - it was more about lineage, evolutionary ecology, the change of culture through time etc etc etc *edit - can't forget the nature of bureaucracy and institutions!).

I really, really liked this show! I have to go back and watch it some day now that it's probably an easy thing.

Obviously, I really like Dune. Also Firefly was a lot of fun though I guess that's as much a Western as it is SciFi. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but because those are the first two that jump to mind there's probably some true to them being my favorites!

fishbaits: Babylon 5 without a doubt.
It used to be on Wed` or Thursday & repeated Sunday. I`d still watch both.
Even used to model/animate B5 stuff in Lightwave for giggles.

As for Star Trek/Wars, didn`t like any of them.

2001/2010 Space oddysey, would like to see them make good films of the two remaining books (also the Rama series if possible \o/).

Blade Runner is amazing, dreading the sequel...
I really don't get why so many people think Blade Runner is amazing. A special kind of cop hunts down a bunch of clones. He kills them all. Sure, Harrison Ford is awesome in it. The other actors are awesome in it too. And the setting is cool. But what else is there? Not much. I'm not saying the movie is not amazing because a movie, like all art can be amazing to some and the opposite of amazing to others. I just don't get your taste.
Actually, I prefer Stargate to anything Starwars in general. Such a good, well written (for the most part) franchise.

Chuba stoopa Bantha poodoo.
Babylon 5 the best for sure.

Buck Rogers I remember fondly. Just a kid in high school back then but I loved Erin Gray in it. Also the main antagonist, Princess Amdala, was hot in those outfits she wore.

I enjoyed Space: Above and Beyond while it was on. Some of the acting was hammish, but it worked. It had a plot arc that was never realized before it was cut. Would've liked to have seen it play out. My wife actually was the nanny for the actor who played the asian in the show when he was a kid.

I'm curious what version of the movie you saw. In one version, Director's Cut maybe, it's evident that Ford's character is also a replicant.

The first 30 seconds of this video proves this is correct X 1000. :)

misteryo: I really like the Rama books.
Yeah I second the recommendation of Arthur C. Clarke's masterpiece sci-fi novel series. Sierra studios also made a neat adventure game adaptation based off Rendezvous with Rama and Rama II plainly called Rama.

monkeydelarge: But what else is there?
The reflexion on the borderline humanity of artificial life, the discontinuity between natural and artificial intelligence (strong vs weak AI theory : "if a computer program beats the turing test, is it or is it still not an intelligence ?"), the dick-ian paranoia on the reliability of memories ? It's sci-fi exploring a postulate, with the same issues of life definition and creation responsability that you can find in, say, the geneforge series. In that sense, Blade Runner is a much more faithful cinema transposition of Shelley's Frankenstein than Whale's movies. Not to mention that these themes hadn't been exploited to death in cinema by that time (but then it got cloned as much as Jaws and Alien, with a bit of the same retroactive consquences).

Makes the film good enough for some people, doesn't suffice for others, I guess. But if you add this to the flawless style and cinematography, it adds up to a total that should count for something, I'd say...

I've only seen one version. The version that was available in the 90s.
