Hey all! Unfortunately the update will come at a later date, most likely the second week of May. The silver lining here is that it may contain additional bug fixes. Our apologies for that inconvenience.

Hey there, will you guys now release just the Next Gen Update 2 that was released to consoles 2 days ago? Apparently it fixed numerous bugs.

Hi I'm not trying to be picky or anything but we're kinda near the end of second week of May (or third depending how you count it), I understand if there are technical constraints delaying the update but please let us know if there's gonna be a delay. I just don't want to get my hopes up high.
So is the GOG “Next-Gen” version definitely going to lack the CC content ? If so, isn’t that going to mean that the moddability of the GOG “NG” version - if and when it arrives - is going to depend on whether or not mod authors will be prepared to create a separate version of their mods just for the CC-less GOG “NG” version ? Is it likely that most modders will even go to this trouble ?

If so then I don’t hold out much hope for the forthcoming (?) GOG NG version for those who might want to play with mods (which will be most people). Better to download the “Old-Gen” (1.10.163) offline installers now, along with as many “Old-Gen” compatible mods as you can - before they disappear ! I’ve already seen one mod - FogOut - which has been updated for “New-Gen” Fallout 4 and all the older versions of that mod have already been consigned to the Nexus archives and are no longer directly accessible.

It’s great that we got Fallout 4 here on GOG, and the vanilla game is great as-is imo (though FNV is better imo), but it’s very sad that as soon we get it here Bethesda deliberately breaks everything with an update which doesn’t even seem to improve the game for PC players.

Also waiting for the next gen update. Mods are not my priority but there are many now that require the new version 1.10.984

Hello! I'm sorry for my delayed answer. We're still working to deliver the Update but it proved to be more complex that initially expected. We hope to provide it in May still.

Can you give us a 'yes' or 'no' as to whether the additional next-gen release content is in the GOG version of the next-gen update?

The Free Creation Club Content that's available in Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update (Enclave Remnants, Armor and Weapon Bundle, Makeshift Weapon Pack and Halloween Workshop) still requires to have Creation Club as a whole. Creation Club itself requires constant internet connection + having an account on Bethesda's website. That means it's considered as DRM thus we don't have it.

So to have a clear answer: the aforementioned Free Creation Club Content won't be included in our version of the Next-Gen Update.

Thank you for clarifying this.

However, can you also clarify whether 1.10.163 (“Old Gen”) OFFLINE INSTALLERS will remain (permanently !) available to download once the GOG “Next Gen” update arrives - at least in the Extras section ?

I am anticipating that modding the GOG “Next Gen” version is probably going to be limited, owing to the missing CC content, so having the “Old Gen” version available will be a must for me and others.

It would NOT be a “solution” to use Galaxy to “roll back” for those of us who never intend to use the client.

For now, we want to keep the current versions of F4 as a "default one" when buying it on GOG and have the next-gen update version available via GOG GALAXY beta branch system. You can read more about it here: https://www.gog.com/forum/fallout_series/fallout_4_next_gen_update_status/page1

Okay, thanks for the feedback. I’m not sure what you mean by “for now” though …

Ideally the “Old Gen” (1.10.163) version ought to be permanently accessible to people who bought it here at any point since its release - and in the form of OFFLINE INSTALLERS directly downloadable via a browser and not via Galaxy. That’s regardless of whether it stays as the “default” version or it gets relegated to the Extras section. As long as that is the outcome I’ll be happy.

I still don't get the issue here. Isn't this a similar scenario with skyrim anniversary edition which got the all the creation club content on gog? Why not just do something similar to that where a bundle is offered with all the creation club content? How does Fallout 4 Creation Club differ from Skyrim?

This doesn't make any sense. For Skyrim SE your download includes the 4 free DLCs that were added to the base distribution in November of 2021. This doesn't appear to have caused any problems as this content does not require any sort of connection to the internet beyond letting Galaxy download the content.

The same is true of the NG Update for Fallout 4. There are now 9 new DLCs which have been added to the base game distribution. No connection to the Creation Club is required at all to download this, and everyone on Steam got them with the update without having to enter the Creation Club menus at all.

It's also inaccurate to say that the CC requires a "constant internet connection" because it only ever connects when you actively seek out the use of the menu option. Which you won't need anyway for this update.

Also as an unrelated aside, why is there no post reporting options anywhere? There's a pretty obvious spam post that needs to be dealt with....

This is EXTREMELY disappointing, however I do not blame this on GOG. This is just bethesda desperately trying to get more people into their failed creation club market place. There is physically no reason why they couldn't put these DLCs in an external file, it's just all about getting people in proverbial door of creation crap store.

If nothing else though thank you for letting us know specifically what is happening with this update. Now to try and roll back my mods so I can play on the older versions. :P

Bad news for GOG users who will want to have an up-to-date unofficial patch.
Post from Arthmoor on NexusMods about the missing CC content in the GOG version :

23 May 2024, 5:49AM
"I'd not consider that confirmation just yet. Whoever that person is doesn't seem to understand that the new DLCs are base game and don't require CC access in any way with the NG Update.

That said, should GOG choose to go forward with a release that doesn't match what's provided on Steam, we will NOT be providing support for that."

Thanks Odessam ^^. This is really bad news.

Definitely a good idea to download (and back up) UFO4P v2.1.5 (GOG OldGen-compatible version) asap. The GOG “NewGen” version of FO4 is going to be crippled for modding without UFO4P, so many mods depend on it.

I don’t understand why the mod authors of UFO4P patch feel that they cannot keep v2.1.5 available as an optional file, but the same policy was adopted with Skyrim and I guess it’s not even worth asking the question.

What an absolute clusterf*ck of a situation, whichever party is to blame (I’ve got a feeling this isn’t GOG’s fault).
