richlind33: The most sensible way to deal with this situation would be for people such as yourself to sponsor refugees.

Vainamoinen: My mom called yesterday. Bit of a drama back in the ol' homestead. Eight male Syrian refugees are living next door in the abandoned school house, and have done so for over a year. Fine people, every single one of them. Formerly ten; but of course finding work in a 1100 soul village is a thing of impossibility, so two have left in the meantime. My mom gave one of them, who had studied theatre science back in Syria, piano lessons; and two have even made it into the Protestant church service December 24th, which I considered a tremendous show of respect. And on Christmas, I mean, because they basically have that empty schoolhouse to themselves, they had invited a few relatives for the holidays. Among them a student from the town I presently live in.

Who seems to have had a bit of a breakdown seeing that his family has really made a home among the kind hearted people of that teensy village. And he doesn't really know anyone over here. He's just alone and scared, and the mounting racial tension doesn't help jack shit with the being scared.

So yesterday my mom asked if I'd be willing to meet with the guy, just to kick off the social relations for a bit.

And that's a responsibility I will assume, under the pouring accusations of leftist extremism and the unhinged personal insults that morolf spouts 24/7.
Good, seems like a good idea if you do some volunteering. Hopefully that means you'll spend less time on gaming and lecturing people on the net.

Sounds like you are not interested in lecturing? I am, because it also means staying in contact, keeping the talk alive. But this discussion is the best proof that there is no further talk, just another monologue and applicability, creating a platform for prejudices.

I meant lecturing in the sense of "belehren"...and that's the opposite of open discussion.
Maybe I shouldn't have written anything, but I really can't understand how a lot of people here get involved in endless shouting matches...I don't think that's a productive use of one's time. Nobody changes his/her opinions because of those "discussions", nobody learns anything.
So I actually applaud Vainamoinen's decision to help that Syrian refugee. There's certainly more potential for doing good in that than by annoying other people on the net.

My question was not meant in a negative way. Besides the second sentence, because this whole discussion would be obsolete if some of us would invest more time with helping instead of "complaining" - could this be called that way? Even though the whole system is collapsing, but that's for another reason.

Don't know, sometimes "complaining" is necessary...I just don't think the kind of "discussion" going on here is a good idea...but that probably means I shouldn't get involved at all :-)
Why do you think the "system" is collapsing? Inherent contradictions of capitalism or something else?

Capitalism is using concepts like "racism" for example to build up groups, following the concept of "divide and conquer". Instead of having equality for everybody, it goes around for individuals having the need for more power and influence. Money is therefore one medium to reach that! And instead of any solution it goes straight to more "division", for example splitting up the people in the group "refugees". Instead of a solution the people are made to "objects", as we are all made to that: Human resource!

Human resource...sounds a bit like Soylent Green :-)
I disagree though that "racism" is a consequence of capitalism. If you're just using the term in the sense of xenophobia and negative feelings against some groups (and not in the more narrow and proper sense of theories of racial hierarchies founded on a biological concept of race), concepts of in- and outgroup seem to be a human universal. There has been violence justified by ethnicity or religion throughout human history, well before the emergence of capitalism in the early modern age.
And anyway, I don't see capitalists, big business promoting racism today...on the contrary, many of them seem to believe abolishing borders, permanent large scale migration flows etc. are highly desirable, with cultures, nations etc. merely being obsolete obstacles to be removed.
A couple of points...

First, there are no capitalist societies. Capitalism is primarily about the decentralization of economic authority, which is in diametrical opposition to centralized banking, which is primarily about the centralization of economic authority. What we have is crony capitalism, which can more aptly be called crony socialism, as socialism is about the centralization of all power and authority.

Second, one of the purposes of "multiculturalism" is to offset the declining population occurring in the Western World, which is antithetical to the continuous economic growth that is required by the global financial system. Which brings up a rather glaring irony, as the people that support multiculturalism are by and large the same people that claim to support sustainable economics in regard to climate change.

The problem here -- and in most cases involving sexual assault -- is the attitude of the public authorities, and it isn't limited to crimes perpetrated by immigrants or minorities. There was an incident not too long ago where a girl was raped at a party while unconscious. The perps' fathers are in the military, and the conduct of the public officials was especially disgusting because they had a video recording of the assault.

Don't disagree.
New attack in France, in Louvre museum... Thankfully, tragedy was prevented.

See how easy it is? Cannibal shouts "Allah Akbar" with knife in hand, you shoot cannibal down... Lucky that people and the fine arts went by completely unharmed; but only so long as this and only this, time, alone. Who knows or can guess what the hell can happen next...?

Now, if every country would issue a presidential edict preventing the flow of scum, exactly like ol' man Donald's...
