One of the current freebies, Deponia: The Complete Journey, will launch without the client.
Hand of Fate 2 only launches with the added parameter but main menu is not shown.

Could somebody explain to me why the -vrmode parameter in subnautica is necessary? When I tested it the last time it launched with -EpicPortal only. Was there another update requiring an additional paramter?

Not really, but I can confirm that the parameter was necessary during my installation. Maybe a new patch status that will make it obsolete? Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to test it.

Interesting. Don't worry - I will redownload it and make a quick test.

I don't own the game to test but PCGamingWiki's entry of -EpicPortal by itself was last verified in Jan 2019, so it's possible a patch changed that and their page hasn't been updated since.

Just redownloaded the game and it works fine just using -EpicPortal (saving and loading as well).

Updated, thanks!
If I may add.. The Fall Part 2: Unbound, has no requirement for the Epic Launcher To be present.

Also does a game that pops up a webpage count? Sunless Sea and Absolute Drift do that, but appear to play ok. This is on a system that the launcher was also not installed.

It's annoying but if it doesn't block the game then I'll add them with a note. The question is do those two games actually play OK (including saving)? I ask because both games are listed by PCGamingWiki as having DRM...

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Absolute_Drift
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Sunless_Sea

...And there have been one or two games here in the past like Alien Isolation that appear to work OK for starting them, but have trouble saving. If these two games definitely work properly including saving properly, then I'll add them, I'm just double checking that people test this beyond simply being able to reach the main menu. Thanks.
OK. Retested. Can't actually play Sunless Sea as that requires keyboard and mouse, and I'm tablet and controller, but Absolute Drift doesn't have an option to make a manual save, as far as I can see, however, settings are saved, as well as progress, between exiting the game and restarting.

Also the web login thing is only on the first run of either game and not required for any other time.

Also, is there any way of running the DLC for Desperados III? the base game runs fine, but the launcher is required to be running to play the DLC, otherwise it directs to the store

OK, thanks I've added the two games. As for Desperados 3, as far as I know the situation hasn't changed and the DLC still requires the launcher. PCGW lists the same thing. Thanks.
De nada. I think 3 out of 10 Season 2 also qualifies. was taking a gander at The First Tree" but apparently that only saves at the beginning of a chapter/level and I didn't get that far into it. Starts and plays without the launcher though.

D3 DLC is a mild bummer. I'm adverse to having launchers of any type running on my computer...
Pine which is available for free on Epic right now is running fine without the launcher out of the box. Save/Load also works.
I had a blast playing Subnautica (which can be played without the client) and so I was wondering if Subnautica Below Zero can be played without the client too.
