I post this very unto European attention - and will also bump shamelessly until weekend, if it will not get a joyous excitement and respect that Ennio Morricone would deserve.

See here:

The Ecstasy of Gold - from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

I perso might like Harmonica theme better, or the disturbingly callous For a Few Dollars More title sequence - "more" - but this one is good.

Yet see how he acknowledges the orchestra; the audience; and is very gallant to the vocalist (Edda Dell'Orso I think).

What a composer, what a man!

I post this because I love Ennio, but I knew he was not young.

What the fouk - I never imagined I could see him live, but I can! Verona is my number one thought, but I also want a more intimate concert while at it. Have not decided on that one yet.

I do hope he tours @97 - but we cannot quite boldly expect it.

I OP this because: Ennio Morricone, a lot of us love you! And those of us whom would like to see you live, might not be too foolish to do so now. Us Finns: Hartwall Arena @March 23

Look at that, he's in Wroclaw on the 23rd... anyone going? Given personal circumstances might be difficult for me, but so tempting... even if expensive...

Anyone around and interested feel free to PM me.

Edit: Since I went to it, I'll post it for others...

To be honest I didn't recognize the name, however the music is unforgettable. Its quite lamentable that the composers/musicians are not as well know as in some cases - this being one - the music makes the film.
meh sadly here in Germany only in Cologne :/ . Would have gone to Berlin, Hamburg or Munich for it but just kinda dislike Cologne. Well also takes place in Amsterdam and Rome so considering these. Thanks for bringing the tour to my attention - was totally unaware.

Brasas... you??

But I must reluctantly hail you for knowing what is good. Morricone is amazing. So just go. We can bicker about it later, lol.
Holy shit a TStael topic that has sensible information through links and about something people can actually relate to. I never thought I'd see this day.

Is this like a tribute tour or is he personally there? It would be quite a feat at his age.

Verona then, I take it. Or Brussels. If I correctly recall, there it goes.

But in case you do not quite have the love of Morricone, pray do not blame it on Cologne. It is a nice enough city, with even Lapponia jewellery. Just blame it on the boogie. already, lol! ;-)
His work on Sergio Leone's films is perfect. One of my fav composer of all time. I still have the theme songs of the $ trilogy or A fistful of dynamite in my head.

For his Tour in France, tickets available worth between 161€ and 191€ O_o

See the link.

It is he.

THAT is why I posted it.

But if my respecting Ennio gets you cold and bothered, I feel a little sorry. Not for myself obviously.

I rather love Morricone, and must admit I never thought I would see him live. But I will, and feel very forward looking about it! :-)

Hope someone others might feel the same - too see Morricone conduct an orchestra shall have to be a privilege; and I really hope his tour will be a success.

I studied one year plus in Paris with Erasmus, and saw Rammstein and few others in Elysée-Montmatre in 2000/2001 - that was my venue, but never had a concert in Palais..

A prole and all that. ;-)

95 Euro and up though for Ennio, I think. For that could consider Paris because I love the city.
It's pretty amazing how long he's been around and with how many cinema legends he's worked with. I wonder how it feels starting like this and reviving westerns with Tarantino 50 years later.

Oh c'mon I even said in my post you finally made a worthwhile topic.
No concerts in Spain T_T

Still, it's nice to see he's around and kicking, hope to see him doing a "70 Years of Music Tour" and many more.

It's also nice that he has been able to come back after all the trouble a few years back with shady promoters, cancelled concerts and whatnot.

Mr Morricone: we love your music, keep it coming!
I had the luck to see him perform live at the ancient theater of Herodes Atticus in Athens, built at the base of the Acropolis. It was in 2008. Such a mystical night! I wish I could see him perform again.

Jawohl, there is a left-handed compliment somewhere there, surely... :-)

PS.

To relativize the cost a bit, do note that with the orchestra and choir, there'll be in total about 200 musicians contributing to the performance.

Add to that the cost of logistics for all the persons and instruments, I understand why the tickets are relatively expensive.

However, I do find it a grand pity that this probably prices out some of Ennio's fans whom would be students, pensioners or suffering under weak economy.

Therefore I'd find him really perfect for big public concerts, for example the 14 Juillet celebrations, to allow access to everybody. Maybe I should show bit of positive naïveté and drop a publics' suggestion to the Mairie, in a very quetionable French no less, lol.

(And RIP Maurice White - I know it's terribly old school but I've always loved to be pulled to the dance floor by "Let's Groove)
