It's a mystery why this has never been on GOG. It is however available in the special edition. You don't have to be a special guy or Fit Girl to find it. Still yet though, I'd rather have the GOG version.
I think the main reason it's not on GOG at this point is the Bethesda.net integration. Skyrim: Special Edition in 2016 added a full integration with Bethesda.net, both for mods and for Creation Club. While I assume it's possible for Bethesda to make that part optional (probably only for Galaxy users), I don't think it'd go down well here. As for the game before the remaster, Bethesda isn't actively selling that on Steam so it likely wouldn't be something they'd be willing to do on GOG either.

It's a shame, too, because I'd absolutely re-buy both Skyrim and Fallout 4 over here if only they were here.

Yes, it's ultimately down to a combination of Creation Club (which forces the need for Bethesda account / online integration) and Remaster-itus (releasing it again and again every few years = there's more profit in not releasing Legendary Edition (which could easily be released here DRM-Free as it came out before all the paid mod stuff) if they can sell Skyrim Special Anniversary Definitive Ultra Ultra HD Remaster for 2-4x the price. Same story with Fallout 4.
Probably because while Morrowind and Oblivion were breakout hits in their own right, Skyrim is basically the golden goose that keeps on giving. Plus, they added all that Beth.net shit to all their recent games, so if you're like me and don't like mindlessly creating accounts for every single thing, you're either getting a gimped experience or you're not playing at all.

Exactly.

Likely, when coming to GOG, Bethesda would have to remove or disable ALL of the Bethesda.Net and Paid-Mod integration.

That's if they'll even bring that here now...and I'll get into some thoughts on that at the end of this post.

And I think more games w/ these type of integrations and while being active w/ still getting DLC's, updates, patches, expansions, etc - yeah, they ain't going to be coming to GOG until much later, when Bethesda feels like a run of DLC, Expansions, NBonuses, Paid Mods, Bethesda.Net Integration, and/or other junk is totally done w/ - and then they might just bring it to GOG without any of the other version's non-sense.

That way, when the game's run is Complete and all of the content's compiled for a GOG release - they don't have to keep updating the game and getting its new contents approved by GOG every time; they can just bring it to GOG in one big swoop and be done w/ it.

Worth pointing out here to add more to my above-said point - when coming to GOG...Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 3, Prey 2017, The Evil Within 1, and all Dishonored games actually ALL came here in basically a final and Complete Edition state (with ALL DLC's and expansions).

There's also now that Microsoft owns Bethesda - and it's also possible since there's no real deal w/ GOG and Microsoft here for their games on this store and since Microsoft is pushing Game Pass on PC and consoles so hard, it might not even come here anytime soon or even at all.

No mystery... Bethesda developed the game and owns the rights to the game, and as the owner they ultimately decide where they want to sell their game. They have not yet decided that they wish to sell it here on GOG, or if they did then they have not yet completed the work to modify the game for the GOG platform yet.

That's really all there is to it for any game out there that isn't available on GOG in a nutshell. GOG doesn't solely get to decide what games they will sell here. They can reach out to a publisher to attempt to interest them in selling their game on GOG, and they do this all of the time, however in order for it to actually happen, then whoever owns the rights to the given game in question have to actually see it as a big enough opportunity to produce profit for the amount of work it takes to update their game and integrate it into a new store platform. Even then they have to actually have the resources available to contemplate doing that, and most likely will only do that if they think it is the best next thing to spend their resources on compared to other projects.

It's really all about the business side of things in the end, the perceived return on investment for resources spent, and how that compares with other investments the same resources could be spent on. If any game isn't here yet then they either do not think it is worth it at all, or if they do think it could be worth it, they have higher priorities they're spending their resources on at the moment.

It's highly likely we'll see Skyrim on GOG in the future IMHO, but it wont happen until it is a priority for Bethesda and they have the resources to commit to doing it and don't have some better thing to use the resources on.
Under my game library, there's nothing in my wish list. In trying to add to it, there's several listed elsewhere. So I guess everyone else has to wish for the game I want.

Something puzzles me. Does GOG make a deal with game publishers? What if someone won a huge lottery and offered a huge cash grant! would they immediately give GOG the go ahead, or are the creaters / publishers leaning back on their laurels because money is NOT the problem?
