As stickied threads are very easy to overlook, I'm also posting this as a normal thread:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/ultima_underworld_12_syndicate_plus_and_syndicate_wars_delisting

3 games are getting the axe on June 28th. But I specifically want to draw attention to this:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/ultima_underworld_12_syndicate_plus_and_syndicate_wars_delisting/post33

wolfsite made a thread about it on the EA forums. The more people make their voice be heard, the better so let's take this as an opportunity. Voice your disappointment that the games are being pulled. Ask for more oldies EA could potentially put up on GOG. Upvote the posts of others. An EA Community manager already responded that he will forward it to the relevant teams. Here is the thread itself:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/EA-General-Questions/Why-are-EA-games-starting-to-get-delisted-from-GOG-com/m-p/10460479#M368977
I would also recommend voicing disappointment/concern on EA's social media pages as I'm sure they are more active there.
Sorry, I am not signing up to EA forums to voice that they are FCKwits. Simply put C̶D̶P̶R̶ sorry, EA will ignore you, in fact they will probably rip the guts out of those games, and then make them pay to win mobile games.
I don't know why people are assuming some kind of anti-GOG nefarious intent here. They're obviously not removing everything, and these would not be draws on Origin whatsoever.

I'd guess either remasters are on the way, they sold the Underworld and Syndicate IPs, or there's some weird licensing issue that has arisen.

Hmm, maybe it might be based on the many times AAA game companies have screwed the customer over in the past, perhaps? ;|
It would be nice to hear from a GOG official on whether or not they were on a 10 year timed contract (Ultima Underworld came here in June 2011, so it's being removed exactly 10 years to the month), and if there are any more "surprise mechanics" contracts we should be aware of.

That's a good point. Too bad this is GOG and we already know there will be no answers, only sudden 'game's going away yo' threads.

It's kinda sad, I think, when some other companies (by comparison) seem to be becoming more open and transparent about the behind the scenes stuff than GOG.

GOG should definitely clear up the reason why they're leaving because if those 10 year timed EA contracts are real then expect Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Theme Hospital, SimCity 2000, Nox, Bioforge, Populous, etc, to all disappear over the next year too.

where did you hear about the 10 year timed contract?

I don't know for sure if they are timed, but a couple of people now have mentioned the fact all the EA games getting removed in June 2021 were added to GOG exactly in June 2011 almost to the week, and it seems a little too much like coincidence to just randomly take them off after precisely 10.00 years for no other reason. I actually hope I am wrong and there are no timed contracts, but with EA you never underestimate anything...

That is just speculation, some people in the stickied thread have pointed out that some games that have arrived before Underworld and Syndicate are still available and have not been taken down like Nox. Plus Syndicate Wars arrived later so this may have something to do with these specific IP's

If GOG is part of an NDA that covers the reasoning for games being removed then there hands are tied as breaking an NDA could cause problems in the future.

That is an anti-GOG, pro-DRM nefarious intent.

This and this. We're lucky GOG had the ability to warn us at all, honestly. And I don't buy for a second that big evil EA just want to "stick it" to people for funsies, that's a silly motivation to apply to a corporation. Profit above all else? Yes. Trolling GOG customers by removing random games? No.

Considering Command & Conquer got a well received remaster I don't think that's outside the realm of possibility, especially for Syndicate. Ultima Underworld is weirder, since the other Ultima games remain and it would be a much tougher remaster to do.
Just chiming in to the disappointment. Syndicate and UU are both amazing game series that simply deserve to be here, even if it's not officially "Good Old Games" any more.

It simply shows that EA gives no fucks about game preservation and the history of our hobby.

But thanks to GOG for the early heads up. I hope some people are buying gift codes for future giveaways.
