Why they couldn't have done this 3 days ago? Dunno... but they did it now

Yay.

Been waiting for years for them to announce this but I dunno if I believe in them to actually deliver anymore. Here's hoping.

What are you concerned about? Capcom has been one of the great developers/producers imo in recent years having produced great games for their various franchises.
After abandoning Dragon's Dogma on GOG (not releasing the latest patch), I am wary of Capcom. That's not a behaviour that I want to reward, which sucks, because I think that's a game I would enjoy.

Agreed. Capcom has been pretty damn good over the recent years. PC is also their primary platform now, which is a good thing.

This is the GOG forum here, so I'd expect to see haters because unfortunately GOG doesn't really exist to Capcom.

That's something unique to GOG, and likely only because the game had poor sales for them on GOG. Do you really expect or have seen Capcom abandoning games on Steam? I mean, they just gave free raytracing & enhanced 3D audio updates to RE7, RE2, and RE3.

It sucks about Dragon's Dogma on GOG, but it is what it is. I don't necessarily blame them if the game flopped in sales here. It's not like the game is broken and unplayable either. The game is totally fine and absolutely worth the sale price right now on GOG if anyone is looking to buy it.

Plenty of other games are behind on patches or missing features on GOG also. It's just the way it is. I mean, even The Witcher 2 is missing achievements on GOG when the Steam version has them, and that's freaking CD Projekt...

I see. Makes sense and I didnt know that Capcom didnt give GOG’s Dragon’s Dogma the latest patch. Unfortunately, GOG doesnt seem to exist for many developers. Is it possible to download the official patch?

I dont think its acceptable to just abandon one platform when the customers there paid an equal amount. Do you think players would be silent if Capcom released a patch for the Playstation version of RE9 but didnt for the Microsoft version. All players paid for the same experience and should be entitled to the same patches/updates/content unless that content is specifically platform specific (and too be honest, those things are usually reaolved after a year anyway).

Regarding Witcher 2, I agree its weird that the game has achievements on Steam but not on GOG when its a game from its own publisher but apparently the Witcher 2 achievements are really buggy which is why CDPR removed them here. I dont know what the right move is since I doubt CDPR wants to revisit and patch an 11 year old game when they have other more pressing priorities (fixing CP2077, Witcher 4).
Hype. Hope it arrives here as well. And they update Dogma's missing updates.
Capcom is too scared of gog, I'll get a PS4 copy. :)

I agree when you're talking about PC releases on different stores, but again, the game is perfectly playable and isn't missing any content. It's two (2) small bug fixes that we're talking about here, and one being a very rare quest bug that is easily avoidable. There's also a patch on nexus mods from what I can see that updates the GOG version.

Wouldn't get your hopes up. I'll never say never on something, but we're talking very close to zero chance here. Capcom doesn't have interest in releasing PC (their main platform) games anywhere other than Steam.

The only thing they'd be scared about would be the waste of their time and resources releasing on a store that wouldn't even get 10% of the total sales. Probably would be under 5% to be honest. If Dragon's Dogma sold gangbusters than they would have ported more games here. If GOG was viable for them they would have ported the RE games and stuff like that when they removed the DRM from them. The sales they get here must be absolutely pathetic.

Hope you're joking, but big LOL at buying a game on a 10 year console (which is hardware based DRM) instead of somewhere like Steam.
It's simple:

If you bring it (and properly advertise its release on GoG by, for instance, putting the GoG logo next to the others in ALL the trailers) they will buy.

No they haven't. Their modern games are chockful full of woke propaganda and revisionist history where they retconn & SJW-ize their characters in their remake versions.

And they also sell games that are only 6 hours long games for $59.99 USD.

And they also treat GOG like garbage and like it doesn't exist and almost never release any games on GOG even though they easily could release all their games on GOG.

Conclusion: Capcom is a very trashy company.

1-Wat

2-Quality beats quantity. You can play the last Ghost Recon for hundreds of hours, that doesn't make it good.

3-On this last part I agree.

Can you elaborate about retconing and SJW-izing the characters? From the more recent capcom games , I only played/finished DMC5 and Re2make thoroughly, so I don't know what's up with their newer titles. I'm genuinely curious.

I do agree with the complaint about price:content ratio of something like Re3make, if we exclude the multiplayer mode/sub-game that feels tacked on anyway.

For me personally they are not trashy, but it's a corporation first and foremost. However they at least try, they do new games, remakes, remasters, re-releases (arcade compilations etc) and support their older titles with updates. They also neglect gog, which sucks, but they do only have 2 games here. I was extra surprised that they released Dragon's dogma here, albeit with delay, the last game I preordered on steam and one of my all-time favourites.
I could easily see a good portion of their titles fit gog nicely, esp. their classics, arcades, etc.

I agree. I dont feel Capcom has really SWJed their characters. Jill Valentine has always been a klckass woman and if anything, R3make nerfed her in terms of competence by making her more mentally traumatized from the mansion incident. Monster Hunter doesnt have any SWJ elements and if its about Village, villains are usually perfect and powerful as it makes them more imposing. Didnt really get SJW vibes from Vampire lady or her daughters.

I think the only game this critique applies to is R3make since it was half a game intended to be DLC for R2make. They did tack on multiplayer to even it out. I suppose you can criticize village as being too short but RE games in general arnt exactly open world slogs in terms of game length.

Yeah Capcom treats GOG like it doesnt exist but then again, so does every other AAA developer.
