With the release of all these Star Wars games it makes think about Academy and Out cast which were made by Raven.

Raven was one of my favorite developers, I sort of think of them as the rare of the PC. A lot of their games used ID Tech engines and in my opinion were actually better. Yes I thought Hexen 2 was better then Quake and Heretic was better then Doom. Only my opinion. I really hope to see their games here some day.
Yes probably, Lucasarts and now disney probably own the rights to all the star wars games not just ones they made themselves (Probably ones they published too). The reason they are not on gog at the moment is because they are on steam.
Raven's own games are probably in limbo, as would be Star Trek: Elite Force. Getting that and Heretic/Hexen II on GOG would be great, but it's nice to want things.

They probably don't own the rights, since they're just an Activision company now, and didn't really publish stuff previously. Heretic and Hexen were published by Id, and seeing as how they're on Steam, yeah, probably no chance. However, Elite Force and Soldier of Fortune were both published by Activision, so there is a chance. Unless I'm missing something?
I'm pretty darn sure we'll see the Raven Star Wars games show up this year.
They are published on Steam by Lucas Arts (Windows version) and Aspyr (MAC version). So i gather that Disney is the actual owner of the rights. Also, wouldn't mind the Force Unleashed games here.
Disney > Activision.
I'm surprised that we don't already have a few like Shadowcaster, CyClones, Necrodome, Take No Prisoners, and MageSlayer. Almost everything else is either iD or licensed. I bet we eventually get the Raven Star Wars games, at least...

Elite Force and Soldier of Fortune are licensed properties, both are very, very unlikely.

*sigh* I would love to see Hexen 2 here... (I already have disc-based versions of Heretic and Hexen.)

One thing that I recall impressed me about the Hexen/Heretic series was that Raven tended to improve on the base engine that they licenced--Heretic, for example, added vertical aiming and an inventory.

I understand EF, but SoF? What property would that be? There's a magazine, but I don't remember it having much to do with it. No mention of it in the Wikipedia article either. I remember Mullins, but he was a consultant, it seems unlikely to me that he would get any say in the matter.

Soldier of Fortune was indeed a magazine that was licensed for that game. Regardless of how important it actually was to the game, it's still a license that would have to be straightened out before it could be sold again.

I mean theoretically GOG LA could smooth-talk CBS into re-releasing the Star Trek games in prep for the new Star Trek movie, similar to the Star Wars games happening now. Soldier of Fortune seems like an unfortunate case unfortunately, otherwise we probably would have seen it by now, back when Activision released games here.

Except that CBS/Paramount don't own the Star Trek games on their own, Activision holds a piece of them too (Interplay owns some and Microprose (Atari now) as well). So there would have to be some sort of agreement made between the all of the companies involved to determine revenue split. The one thing that makes bringing the Star Wars games to GOG easy is that one company owns the rights to all of them.

Honestly, if there was a chance of the Star Trek games coming back, they would come to Steam first, where the money is. The only reason that there are a few Star Wars games on GOG that aren't on Steam yet is because those game required some finessing to get operating properly. There were already a ton of Star Wars games on Steam before they came to GOG. I'm sure that after a short period of exclusivity, those GOG digital debuts will make their way to Steam as well, as many GOG versions of games have.

Edit: Now that I think about it, Simon & Schuster, which is a division of CBS, published a few Star Trek games. Perhaps there is a long, long, long shot for those, but I'm skeptical...

both raven jedi knight games were published by Lucasarts, and thus belonging to Disney they should be on gog.com.
All of Raven's non-SW games are all scattered in terms of ownership. Don't take this as fact, this is just what I could dig up a while ago. It could be wrong.

CyClones - Published by SSI - Ubisoft?
Heretic - Sold on Steam under id Software (Zenimax)
Heretic 2 - Published by Activision - May still own the rights?
Hexen + Mission pack - Sold on Steam under id Software (Zenimax)
Hexen 2 - Sold on Steam under id Software (Zenimax)
Hexen 2 Expansion pack - Published by Activision - May still own rights?
MageSlayer - Published by GT Interactive - Atari?
Necrodome - Published by SSI - Ubisoft?
ShadowCaster - Published by Origin - EA?
Singularity - Sold on Steam under Activision
Take No Prisoners - Published by Red Orb - Possibly Ubisoft?
Wolfenstein '09 - Published by Activision - Taken off Steam years ago for unknown reasons

They also have some licensed games that will (probably) have serious trouble being sold again.

Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2, as well as Star Trek Elite Force, all under Activision.

Soldier of Fortune 3 was taken off Steam a while ago, so that probably means their deal is up.
