VABlitz: Not In

Too bad it's not next month. I will probably go sometime in March or April, but have no interest in getting stuck up there during the winter weather. I-95 is bad enough without winter weather.
All the haiku will be displayed through the end of winter. I guess that means until March 20th, but there's not a definite date set.

chevkoch: Not in, but congrats for being selected. I looked at the three winners and would've voted for yours to win instead, really. Red scarf, is it a reference to the color of the bark of the leafless trees?

Thanks and +1 for the giveaway on top.
Thanks for the kind words! And as for your question: I didn't make any intentional reference while writing the poem.

Interesting, I saw a bird's eye view of the city, with reddish-barked trees wounding their way through it, much like a scarf. Love your Haiku.

cool i'm in and congratz
Congrats, Accatone. Very cool!
BUMP!

For every bump I'll share a haiku. This is from the great Masaoka Shiki:

ikutabi mo / yuki no fukasa o / tazune keri

again and again
I ask how high
the snow is

(Translation by: Janine Beichman)

Btw, thanks to GOG support, I changed the topic title to a grammatically correct one! :) I also replaced "february" with "winter" since the selected haiku will be displayed till the end of winter. I hope that someone can take a photo of my poem before the deadline.
Bump, now share a new haiku :P
Congrats.
I can't make it to that area. Good luck finding someone though.

Also, please count me in. Thanks.

Sure! :) Since the theme of the contest was winter, I'll continue sharing winter-related haiku. This is from Kuroyanagi Shōha:

Ikite yo ni / nezame ureshiki / shigure kana

To wake, alive, in this world,
What happiness!
Winter rain.

(Translation by: R. H. Blyth)
thats awesome! Congrats! & +1! for the giveaway :)
Bump!

A winter haiku from Issa:

Fuyugomori / sono yo ni kiku ya / yama no ame

Winter seclusion;
Listening, that evening,
To the rain in the mountain.

(Translation by: R. H. Blyth)
New bump
Bump!

The deadline for the celebration giveaway will be the end of February; so if you want to enter, make sure that you post before the deadline! :) The photo related giveaway will end at the end of winter.

OK, here is another haiku with a winter theme; this time it is from Michael Ketchek:

falling snowflakes
the foolishness
of grasping

I'm in, not in Washington thought.

apehater: do you have a haiku diary full of them?
No, I don't have a haiku diary. But it's a good idea to gather together beautiful haiku in one place.
