I keep hearing really good reviews about both of these games and I'm a bit torn as which to get(only can afford one during a sale this year). Any help would be grateful :)

Both are very good in different ways. If you prefer very open gameplay buy divinity. If you want a better story choose Pillars of Eternity.

I'd definitely get Divinity:OS first. It's awesome, it's on sale, it's been out long enough to get ample patches and tweaking. Wait for PoE to get all patched up and hit it's first sale in a few months to a year, that's what i'm doing.

Get the discounted Original Sin now, and wait to get Pillars another time.
Divinity:Original Sin is considered to be the better game, but both games should be in your collection soon or later :)

I have played about 10 hours in each and they are both fun so far. Divinity is a bit more light-hearted and funny which is nice. So far PoE has had a fairly dark and serious tone to it which is also good. You really cannot go wrong with either of them :).

I'd go for both... However when it actually comes to buying it, I'm waiting for a deeper discount. Just got 18 items at $50 from the tower and current deals, which accounts for probably 75% of my funds so far.

I found Divinity: OS too high fantasy for my tests.
The story a little bit cliche'.

Game was overall good, but not found too much interesting stuff to keep going.
Keep in mind that I get bored very quickly with games, unless they are really gripping.

Why don't you choose Wizardry 8 instead of those two ?

I suggest Divinity, Original Sin as well. Watched my brother play quite a bit of it and it's really in-depth. Especially when it comes to spell/environment combos.

Original Sin: It has gone through quite a bit of patching by now, while Pillars of Eternity has various bugbears that need to be slain. Pillars should be sorted out by the time winter sales come into effect.

If you are looking for a Linux native version for each, I believe that Divinity: Original Sin has its one still not released yet, while Pillars of Eternity has already its one.

Following others' statements on Pillars of Eternity's patches, maybe you should wait for a bit regarding both?

Myself personally is enjoying more the PoE, but not playing DOS would be heresy :P

All is just a matter of personal taste in the end.

EDIT: Anyway, if you want to play something right away, go for DOS, it is on sale right now, and I think you will not regret it.

I vote Divinity too as Larian is providing more fun than every game dev out there and some great visuals too. Moreover it has coop mode and because of the sale going on, much cheaper too. PoE will mature more and some dlcs will come later and in a sale in a few months from now will be more vfm.

I didn't read any comparison of the two. But from what I gathered so far, Divinity seems to have more approval overall (and I am not talking here about backers content related outrage).
