An extra layer of realism on your nail-biting raids.

There are not many games out there that can boast to be as realistic and hard-hitting as SWAT 4. But if you're looking for an experience that's one step closer to the real thing, then chances are that the Elite Force Mod is the way to go. Incidentally, the DRM-free version of SWAT 4 that just debuted on GOG.com is fully supported by this mod, so don't hesitate to take it for a spin!

Elite Force includes tons of bugfixes, gameplay tweaks, and strategic additions for the tactical enthusiast who doesn't mind the extra challenge, if it means all of their de-briefing praise and reprimands will feel truly earned. Some of the most noticeable changes made by modder eezstreet include:

- Additional equipment options
- A greater variety in the suspects' and hostages' behavior
- A brand-new Traps mechanic
- Harsher penalties for your less-restrained actions
- More realistic equipment that requires careful use
- A secondary objective that lets you collect drug evidence on the scene
- A unified campaign that includes all the main game's missions plus the ones from The Stetchkov Syndicate expansion

This is far from a finished project, however, and plans for the immediate future include an extra Mission taking place in a restaurant, as well as gameplay mechanics that will force you to think harder about your mission loadout and will change how body armor works. Keep an eye on its comprehensive Mod DB page to learn about all the exciting developments.

So, are there any other SWAT 4 mods you guys would recommend? Feel free to let the rest of our precinct know!

SWAT 4 is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Slow news month?
And here I was thinking this was regarding Star Trek's Elite Force. Now I must leave extra sad.
Thanks for the heads up! Will try it on my second playthrough.

Smannesman: Slow news month?
Actually, good news month.
There aren't really enough of these official Mod News posts for classic games.

Wise words; whenever I have extra sad, I too leave it here in the forums :)
Harsher penalties? What, you now get penalized for undeclared farting?
For a second I thought it's a Star Trek themed mod. Which would be awesome. Imagine SWAT, but you're arresting Maquis terrorists and drunk Klingons and busting illegal Ferengi arms trade and stuff.
I love that GOG is giving so much love to SWAT 4! Three news articles in a row, and a massive banner image :) That's awesome.

I have played some user-made maps with Star Wars and Stargate themes.
I'm having some trouble running the mod. I'm on Win 7.

I try to start one of the .bat files but they do nothing. What can I do?
I own the retail versions of SWAT 4 and The Stetchkov Syndicate. All this mod does is freeze up the screen and I have to control/alt/delete to get out of it. Has this mod NOT been out for some time for us retail owners ? I ask because it clearly does not work. At least on my end which the normal SWAT 4 and add-on works flawlessly. If it does not work with the retail versions then who is to say it works with the GOG version. I'm not willing to spend another 10 dollars to find out with a game I have owned since it's release.

You have to place the .bat files in the "content" sub folder and run it from there. Did you do that? If you place the .bat files in the top level of the game folder the game won't start. Maybe that will do the trick for you. ;)

Whoooops!

I failed reading comprehension, now it works! Thanks!
The SAS mod is also another great one, and if you can find it, there is a Mega Map pack that adds a ton more missions to the game! If I can dig it up I'll link it here.

Edit: Just search Mega Map Pack under SWAT 4 addons on ModDB (can't post links because new user I guess)

It is a torrent so leave it seeding once you finish so others can enjoy it! It's around 1.2 GB, here's the description from the ModDB page:

Updated 2016-05-27: Mega Map Pack aims to collect most of the custom maps for SWAT 4 ever made, while providing many gameplay enhancements. This version includes the Mega Campaign Mod to play custom maps from the career menus. Torrent download (1.2 GB) only, so please seed it.

Features
* Hundreds of SP and MP maps (5 GB uncompressed)
* Includes Mega Campaign Mod: Play custom maps in career mode (TSS only)
* Readmes and screenshots from original authors
* Disable initial dispatches in SP/COOP maps
* Sorted voting list in TSS
* Fix duplicate map name issues
* Compatible with standard MP servers
* Versions 1.0, 1.1 and TSS 1.0 supported

Installing Mega Campaign Mod on other versions
Mega Campaign Mod can also be used with other TSS mods (SSF, HSME, etc). Warning: doing so will replace the mod's own custom campaign. Take backups if you want to restore it.

1. Install Mega Campaign Mod normally
2. Select files from MegaCampaignMod.7z\ContentExpansion\System\
3. Install the files on <modname>\System\ by overwriting every file when asked
4. Mod's career menu should now be updated
