UPDATE: Heads up! There are 24h left, so now is the time to take advantage of the amazing deals and upgrade your collections. Eyes on the price, Boo, eyes on the price!

Years ago, the Baldur's Gate series changed the way we look at gaming and the scope of what was considered possible. Even now, the legacy continues through the Enhanced Editions – thanks to the hard work and years of updates to keep the inimitable Infinity Engine living on.

It's the work on the Enhanced Editions that made Siege of Dragonspear possible – the just-released, massive expansion to the timeless classic, available only for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

"The team at Beamdog was able to breathe a new life into the Infinity Engine classics." says Greg Tito, Communications Director for Dungeons & Dragons "We're proud to recognize their excellent work in offering the best possible experience and support for these legendary titles. We want these to become the definitive editions – featuring both the enhanced and classic versions of the games."

On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately. If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected.

"We're excited to take our commitment and support to Baldur's Gate and GOG fans to the next level and humbled to work with such great partners. The Definitive Edition Bundle will give every Baldur's Gate fan what they're looking for" – concludes Cameron Tofer, Beamdog COO.

In the near future, we're also looking forward to full GOG Galaxy support for achievements in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition – as well as in the Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be 75% off until April 4 11:59 PM PDT / April 5 2:59 AM EDT/ 7:59 BST and 60% off until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 60% discount for Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 85% discount for owners of the original saga will last until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST.

BlackMageJ: Okay, I might consider 'upgrading'... if I can get my character from Baldur's Gate Trilogy (who is currently about half way through the BG1 portion of the campaign) into the EE. Is this possible?
Probably not. Bringing a save from a modded original (BGT) to the enhanced? I wouldn't count on it working. But you should google some answers just in case, I'm only hypothesizing.

sunshinecorp: It's not? It is on Steam. So I'm sure it'll come here.

hummer010: Not the original. Technically none of the original versions were available on Linux. GOG has a wine-wrapped Linux version of PT, BG1 & BG2.
Yeap I corrected my post. :)

I already got them, you silly English king. (Oh yes, they're verrrrry nice.)

I guess the bundling takes the cheaper originals out of play. Though they're pretty much on sale every Xmas.
I love the extra discount I got for owning the originals! Insta bought!

Does this mean all the classic D&D games will be gone?
Or just the BG and IWD one?
high rated
Good that I already have the originals. I'm not interested in that fancy new stuff and I will not support such foolish trickery to sell more of it. Now get off my lawn!

Baldur's Gate 1, Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale 1 will be absorbed in the Enhanced Editions. The rest of the games who don't have Enhanced Editions will remain unaffected.
I can't really push the scratch right now but I'm tired of the all the patches and mods I'm using on BG1 and 2 so I might have to snag them here. I got the IceWind enhanced a year or so ago and I LOVE IT.
Well. Only piece i lack is the new title. Sometime in the future i will get. Still in love with the originals.

moonshineshadow: Not selling the old and the enhanced version seperately anymore? Interesting decision o.O
Probably to push the EE. Cant say im impressed.

phaolo: Oh f**k me, should I really spend another 9$ for these not-that-necessary EE editions? O_o
avatar
Grargar: Well, if you want the newly-released expansion, Baldur's Gate 1 Enhanced Edition doesn't become not-that-necessary anymore.
Eh but actually the expansion was (implicitly) included in my reasoning.
Is it worth enough to rebuy everything?

Also, do old savegames work in EEs?

In the same place we didn't see ANY NEWS at all about other D&D games being touched. :P

OK! Just bought it! :D (again)

Wow, excellent discount! What sucks for me is that i own the classics here but Enhanced Editions on Steam. Now if only i could transfer them to GOG somehow, ancient magic might help me.. again. :P
I don't really expect it to happen but it would be nice for those who already own the old games to have a permanent discount for "upgrading" to the enhanced versions, they could get some kind of deal or something.
Hmmm. Well, at least Siege of Dragonspear is here.
Wondering when BG2EE will update to version 2.0? I think it is already up on steam.
