Last week Yahoo! News (yeah, I know) devoted a front page link and thumbnail and a resultant entire article to report the death of a "celebrity" who had worked on the crew for two episodes of a popular TV show.

There are many people still not taking this seriously. I see articles about people breaking quarantine every other day. If one of their favorite celebrities dying is the only wakeup call they will take then so be it. At this point I just want people to follow the medical experts recommendations.

The question is do they mention these celebs so we can cheer or to be sad?

Death is always tragic but by reporting the deaths of these celebrities the media can raise awareness to those that still don't take Covid 19 seriously. I agree that the death of some overpaid celebrity isn't any more tragic than the death of a busdriver, nurse, doctor, or garbageman.

But that's your modern media for you.
