But a few games I've been wanting to buy came on, so I just spent some small coinage on Conquest: frontier wars, Saitns' row and Clive Barkers undying :D
And it seems I might as well grab Jade empire; everyone here says it's great, and apperently if I don't fFearfull will come paddling over the meuse from the Netherlands to admonish me personally ;)

Also, I played the first STALKER. It *is* creepy at times, and while there aren't too many traditional jump scares there are a few invisible enemies, dark abandoned towns and crumbling underground ruins. Hell, even hearing a closing pack of dogs when you're poorly equiped is "scary" in a gameplay sense.
HOWEVER - I have seen Sachys telling people NOT to play CS if they have any remote interest in the STALKER series. It is a complete and utter spoiler for multiple endings of Shadow of Chernobyl. So if you wanted to play SoC, maybe hold off on playing CS for a while.
I'll think on it... FPS's in general aren't really my thing any more (other than Jedi Knight, but that's mostly nostalgic because I loved it first time around) and I'm not great with creepy or jump scares...
However I very much doubt I would buy any of the others (unless it turned out I absolutely loved it) so I'm not worried about spoiling them.

(Agent, since you're there, I hope you'll feel better soon.)
(**Big random healing and comforting hugs**)

Sorry... I'm checking in occasionally. I can't stay away from you lovely people :-) ... I'm having a really difficult time thinking and writing though... Of course, I always make an exception for my favorite Owl ;-)
**Big not-so-random thank you hug**
Hope you get to feeling better quickly. :/

Well, I have been known to talk to animals ... ;) Especially the cat, since he actually meows back. He's got different meows depending on whether he wants to go outside, have food, get some attention, or when a door's closed (which he disapproves of).
Cats hate closed doors. They will meow until you open them... which doesn't mean they want to go to the other side, of course ^^

I'd say play it then. Who knows when you'll be in the mood for a "change of pace" and want to fire up an FPS. Also, the game very much feels more like a first person RPG with very interesting gun mechanics. Run and gun will get you killed - you have to play to your strengths, and you'll find the game will eventually provide you with the tools to do that. The initial learning curve can be a bit steep but the game rewards slow, methodical play, carefully lined up shots and an eye for cover / situational awareness.
