It just won't stop growing.

Originally released in early 2011 - <span class="bold">Terraria</span> - the infinite pixel playground, receives yet another MAJOR content update. So major it could be an expansion pack, but it's not - it's free and it's four years in the making - because the developers love you so very much.

Terraria is an open-world platformer in which you build, mine, craft, and fight your way across big and diverse procedurally-generated realms. If you have yet to take your first baby steps in one of the most immense video games out there, this is a wicked good time to get your copy while it’s 25% off for the next 48 hours - that's until July 2, at 4:59 PM GMT.

The 1.3 Changelog is huge - it's over 20,000 characters long and includes new features like a fresh Expert mode, a photo/camera mode for the creative, new environments and enemies, and hundreds of gameplay changes and quality of life fixes like revamped town NPCs. Somewhere down the list of changes you'll also find a bullet point that mentions over 800 new items to discover. No biggie though.

Loving it but I haven't played in so long it's going to take me a while to get used to the controls?

Is there a way to close chests other than ESC?

Oh and did you all notice you can now label the chests and STACK THEM!!!

And WTF is the point of a web rope!? :P

And what exactly do you get for accomplishments? :P

Maxvorstadt: There is no update, only full install file. Will there be a seperate patch soon, or do I have to deinstall Terraria and download the whole thing?

BillyMaysFan59: I was able to install over the old version using the 1.3 installer. Worked flawlessly. A simple patch would be nice though.

(of course I'm using Wine under Linux and not Windows)
Well, I don`t wine and dine with my PC, so I don`t know if that works under Windows, too. But considering that Windows is in most cases easier to handle I should maybe give it a try. :-)

They appear to already be working on a hotfix, I unlocked 2 achievements (They are built in, not Galaxy achievements) right after making a new character and starting. Defiantly a few bugs.

Wellllll I can only assume it will work the same way in native Windows. ;)

Evidently achievements don't mean anything.

Why are you still using XP on an internet-connected computer? That's really a bad idea.

Windows 10 is free forever if you're willing to betatest, fyi. Linux for online and an airgapped XP box for gaming works fine too.

I recommend Win 7. You don`t have to test it coz it works!

Oh, nice! I just got the game during the sale and already played so much (I have so much stuff left to do though, I've mostly been exploring). Will I lose my world and character with this update? How can I make a backup of them??

Well, I do too, but lots of people are sticking with XP because they're scared of paying for an operating system.

Buy Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1. Problem solved for at least 5 years, by which point you'll need a new PC anyway.

Or install Lubuntu - it works great on old XP computers IME.
