KiNgBrAdLeY7: Think again. If you ever thought that Blaze is going to have those old time cheats like in 3, or the uncensored Japanese 2 sprite/model, then think again.

Even back then, they changed the entire SCENARIO of the third game, so as not to offend the snowflak ediots. Removed entire bosses (Ash, etc), renaming/redrawing NPCs and stuff.

Genocide2099: Wait what? No Ash? Did they remove him because he's a gay stereotype?
That's right.
Part 2 was censored in Europe and USA.

Exactly. In all possibility, this new release ain't gonna hold a single candle, to the Streets of Rage Remake Fangame.
Honestly? I hate the censoring of the old games. but I prefer a 4th game anyway.

The fangame is on the internet (and cannot be made away by SEGA anymore) and the roms to the Japan SEGA Genesis are also optainable. But I want to own SOMETHING for the PC (as addition my 3 original SEGA moduls for the Genesis).

Ofc i'm in. I was in the moment Yuzo Koshiro was confirmed to participate in the soundtrack.
Yes. I was looking forward to this before as SOR2 is one of my favorite Genesis games. But a GOG released just elevated my anticipation level to Hyped.

Time to remove another one from my steam wishlist.
I waited so long for this to happen, and I hate it.

If any old Sega property deserved a Sonic Mania style 32-bit pixel art overhaul, it was this one... instead we get this gross, nickelodeon looking mess with mobile-caliber character art that's detached from the scenery and special effects that look like they're straight out of a 90's flash cartoon. Absolutely none of the original series grit or style exists here, plus they made my favorite character look like a fat hobo.

I guess I can hope this does well enough that they might consider doing a respectable SOR5? Maybe? Oh well, at least the soundtrack will be authentic... I hope.

Is the art style by far the important thing to you in games? I think that's the most common type of complaint I've seen you make about games.

While i actually do like the style used in SoR4 , i can say that i can totally understand ReynardFox's point of view (hyperboles aside).
It is inherent human nature to be attracted to what our brain perceives as pretty. And obviously tastes can and do differ.
Me for example, i find the art styles used in japanese games far more pleasing to my eyes than the west's obsession with hyperrealism. Ofc there are always exceptions.
WOW! The developer is Lizardcube, of "Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap" fame. Considering that "Dragon's Trap" is a masterpiece, I can't wait to see how good this ends up being. I'm hoping for another masterpiece, but I'll settle for a fantastic game. ;)

I wouldn't say the most important, but art as a whole was a big part of my upbringing and If a game's art style actually annoys me as much as it does in this one, it certainly doesn't make me want to get immersed in the world I'm being presented. First impressions matter, and If I'm not blown away by the gameplay mechanics, any objectionable art direction is going to stand out like a sore thumb to me.

It really depends on the game though, aesthetics are more important in some games than others (usually my visual complaints here are aimed at games that I think look like lazy, hackneyed, low-effort jobs or those simply ignorant of the style they are going for, like the glut of pixel vomit games pretending to be "retro" or "8-bit" without any actual understanding of those eras) but this game here annoys me more than most as Lizardcube have clearly demonstrated they have the talent to do an authentic remake in Wonderboy. But here? It looks like they didn't care. All three classic SOR's all have such a great, consistent, gritty style and atmosphere, and all of that is completely gone in this new game.

More than that, I actually think the hit detection and movement in this looks floaty and indistinct as well, it simply looks like a game that's inferior to the old Sega ones. Or the SOR fan remake, a game that immediately shows a love of the franchise that the studio Sega palmed this off to simply does not share.

Happy to see this finally confirmed and it appears to have full Galaxy support as well. Nice!

Nice, hopefully it is going to be released during this year.

There is also a cultural importance when it comes to taste in artstyles/forms. Not everything appeals to every culture in the same way. All cultures value things differently. Some cultures just prefere a certain artstyle more, so calling it "art-affinity" if you will seems to be easier for me to describe this subject at large.
This year is seeing some top tier releases. Keep them coming!
