that said, the developers mentioned Menace to be easier than battlebro's and how they were interested to appeal to a broader spectrum of the public... w/e that means

There are some people who are so extremely narrow-minded and stuck on a single track that they just can’t step outside their comfort zone to try something new or different. They deserve our pity more than anything else.

That looks very hopeful! Color me interested! And seconding the request for a demo!

(Battle Brothers immediately turned me off with the artwork, so I never gave that a second look; I'm guessing from some of the comments here that I should?)

In the XCOM games they had overarching story with handcrafted story-missions plus generated missions in between, and the description does not rule out this design (would need to have the MM-operations be the in-betweens). It doesn't exactly hint to it, either, though.

That is the exact same formula with extra bells and whistles because people liked it and want more? of all the criticism Battle brothers got, having procedurally generated contracts and maps wasn't one of them

I thought it should be obvious what I meant as in it is the same but the combat is of a different type. Believe me you wont be doing the same thing 16 times. Besides combat is where the meat is anyway.
Neat, can't wait to have my teeth stomped in for even the slightest poor decision, miscalculation or too overconfident advance.
This overly harsh and unforgiving punishment with very little or no room for mistakes was/still is one of the main attractions of Battle Brothers after all.

I'm not that guy, but I'll elaborate in a somewhat cryptic manner. I have, currently, 2,076 hours played in Battle Brothers. These guys know how to make a damned engaging, gritty, and extremely challenging, tactical combat experience..
