Never played the series, can you jump in on the second game or do you need to play in order?

Or is the first game really good as well and deserves a play regardless?

The stories tie in together if I recall right .. So you'd again if I recall right miss varies factors about the story and why things are happening on some level.. but I'd say you can easily hop into the game if you are one of those that don't care about story and just want to play a game
