Being a hero is family business.

Children of Morta is coming soon to GOG.com.
In this story-driven roguelike you join the Bergson family, dedicated Guardians of Mount Morta, as they venture into its now treacherous, constantly shifting dungeons to uncover the truth behind its corruption. Bonds will be tested, monsters will be felled, gorgeous pixel art scenery will be explored.

Watch the trailer.

Good art, but it looks like it should have been made for Linux. Is it using Unity?

Painted_Doll: read my previous post :)
And they don't support Linux? Cocos2d-x has Linux support, and game's Kickstarter page lists Linux too.

Oh boy. Another frigging pixel "art" roguelike.

No thanks.

It's easy to jump on the bashing bandwagon, but it's difficult to be upset with this one, when the graphics are as gorgeous as these. THIS is how "retro" graphics should be done.
KS backer here, also contributed some lore and an artifact. Really looking forward to this one, it's had a long and interesting development cycle!
Pixel art was a mistake. Procedural generation too. But the game looks okayish, I guess.
Pixel Art is modern nonsense. Its fashion clichee without any value for player.

Anyway, Im going to buy this game, because graphic looks just awesome and it looks like really good roguelike game with spirit in it.

That doesn't even make sense. How do you qualify the value of art to an audience? And how does this game fail where other succeed?
Sometimes i genuinely wonder how much free time has all this people that comes to complain about games they wont ever buy or play...

Said that, this game looks like it could be quite interesting, although there is a long wait ahead for its release.
I can't be the only one who misread that title as "Children of Mothra"... now THAT would have been an awesome game!

The value is that pixel art usually requires a simple, cost effective engine so the smaller developers can spend more time on the gameplay.
11-bit Studios? I really enjoy their games so onto the wishlist this goes.
Look here, a non-pixel art non-procedurally-generated game. Go over there:

adaliabooks: And complaints about art style and procedural generated levels in 3.. 2.. 1..
Can you see the future?

Everyone on the GOG forum is over 70 and retired, so plenty of free time to be cantankerous.
