I met up with my friend yesterday afternoon.

So, first thing first - she sends her heartfelt thanks for all the wishes, poems, and cards; she was very touched by the warm response from all over the world. Cheers everyone!

Last Sunday her symptoms decided to attack her quite intensively, took about two days to get better, and the doctors said no meds unless it gets really bad. That left some numbness and twitching to the left side of her face but it's bearable, and thankfully no jaw locking.
She does feel quite well otherwise, and I was very happy to see her look it too - bright eyes and smiles.

I stress this as things are expected to get worse within the next 6-18 months, before they start to get really better, and the longer it takes for the "get worse" part to kick in, the longer it's going to take until she's completely healed.

But for now, I'm happy to see her well, as she deserves a good break before her suffering starts all over again.

Saddly, the "getting worse" part can't be skipped.

Hopefully, the "getting better" part also goes according to what is expected.

It makes my heart ache to read about what's in store for your friend, but I'm glad that there's at least an end in sight.

Thanks so much for the update. Sending gentle mental-hugs your friend's way!
I hope this "get worse" stage passes quickly and mildly for your friend. :-)

Actually, it could last for up to a year or a bit longer, and it's going to be worse than before the procedure, as the inflamed tumour will apply more pressure to the nerves.

But will see to it when things get there.

Thanks everyone for the wishes, much appreciated.

15 years ago, one of my friends also underwent a brain surgery to remove a benign tumor. He had a few epileptic episodes in the first two years following the surgery, but no permanent side effect. It took him two years to fully recover, but he's in perfect shape today! I'm so glad he's still alive! :-)

Tell her to stay strong, because things will get better. It might be stormy now, but it can't rain forever!

PS: I've attached something for her ;-)

As _Slaugh_ said she should stay strong and positive. I hope this rough period of the healing process will be as short as possible and she'll get trough it fast.
