Are you ready to party?

House Party is an absolutely hysterical, story-rich adventure game with amazing 3D graphics. It’s up to you, the player, to make choices and party the way you want; the game’s unique AI and scripting system literally shape and mold the content around your choices, so that you experience something new or different with each gameplay. To date, there are hundreds of different stories, side-quests, and narratives, and thousands of branching stories and dynamic elements. Content is being added regularly, so it just keeps getting bigger and better! Each new game starts at the door as a blank canvas for your decisions.

Now though, House Party received a completely fresh update – introducing High Definition Render Pipeline and a variety of new ways to customize your game!

You can now enjoy some brand new HDRP improvements within the game – expect stunning new lighting and shadows, along with upgraded models and enhanced textures that result in an overall visual enhancement across the house and all characters. And speaking of characters; the new update also introduces a full customization of each and every player character. You gain an ability to change clothing colors, patterns, decals, and even add effects like emboss and metallic to some clothing pieces. You can also tweak the character’s skin tone, makeup, hair root and tip color, and inner and outer eye color, and much, much more.

Check it out now!

00063: It is utterly unacceptable, that there are the same games discounted on steam but not here!
Since people on Steam have inferior, DRM infested versions, publishers must motivate customers buying their stuff with appropriate discounts.

MarkoH01: Imo the graphics in this HD version are not bad at all

WinterSnowfall: FYI, the game is using the Unity engine, so it's really nothing special. They probably upgraded the engine (meaning switched to its latest version) to get some of its newest bells and whistles and improved texturing a bit, nothing revolutionary. Not sure why this needed a news post, but hey, marketing knows :P.
Don't get me wrong, the definitely put some work into this, but it's essentially a game update...
I know the engine they used and I know how it looks and how it looked before - because I actually tested the new version myself and played quite a bit of it before the update. They never said that they did sth. revolutionary and I did not as well ... but they invested a lot of work with the customization part alone, improved controls AND changed to HD textures (which have changed quite a lot) ... for this alone other devs would have demanded additional money and they offer the update for free. Imo it deserves this news much more than a 10% discount of a GOTY game ;) - simply because owners of the game might miss that the game has changed a lot and would discard this as yet another update.

We went from bland, poorly drawn anime avatars to bland, poorly rendered 3D models.

Okay, maybe I am just a bit more forgiving but is this really "poorly rendered" for an indie game?

Hello. I've contacted one of the game's developers to point out that until now, the "achievements" were not available for the "Liz Kat" dlc. This has now been fixed. =)

I took the opportunity to ask some questions. Here are the answers:

Yea we love GOG - they are very easy to work with and supportive!
Wetre definitely planning to keep putting all DLC and new games on
GOG! I don't know the exact number of copies sold - I know over all on
all platforms it's probably a little bit more than 1.4 million
I think GOG is currently probably our second biggest platform behind
Steam as far as sales per month

Cool! Thank you for the infos!

1.4 M seems like a LOT! I'm glad they love GoG and will stay here for good as well :)

"Second biggest platform (by sales per month)" sounds nice, but doesn't mean much, if:

Steam is making: 85% of monthly sales
GOG is making: 8% of monthly sales.
The rest is making: 7% of monthly sales.

It's all a question of perspective. ;)

They don't just love GOG they also treat GOGers well - as reward they get such mean comments like above. I'd rather support such great devs than any AAA company that treats me as a customer as unworthy or just "a bonus" ... does not matter if the graphics in such games should be better.

Maybe I ought to finally give this game a go. It's only been sitting in my backlog for over a year. ;)

You're right, that's actually pretty good. In retrospect I was too harsh on the 3D models.
Great update. From the boring outfits "they just finished their gardening/household job" to real party going people with appropriate clothes that matches their makeup and other visual characteristics.

The only thing missing: Frank needs a black tie.
I've seen Renpy games with better graphics.

RenPy uses pre-rendered images and House Party is rendered in realtime....

I guess HD must stand for something else in this instance, considering the nature of the game in question...

What nature do you mean? It's basically a point & click adventure that plays in a 3D environment, smilar to the Tex Murphy games. It's a quest based adventure. Two out of three DLCs add additional quests and storylines. In one you solve a murder mystery with Liz Katz, in the other you help Doja Cat finding out who's under the mask of a dancing mascot.

One of the DLCs also adds explicit scenes, but those are completely optional.

And I must say, the game looks awesome now compared to how it looked back when they started.

There are also Ren'Py games with better graphics than the Witcher. So what? That's the advantage if you can do real raytracing in advance rather than have a environment where the player can move freely around and everything has to be done in real time.
