Since my gamer PC decided to call it a day and I was sort of strapped for cash I went out and got a really crappy entry level laptop. So with the limited power of the computer I was thinking that could be a fun subject for a web page. So I have created a web page that I call Games on Trash where I try to catalogue what games are able to run on a celeron laptop with intel graphics. You can find it here.

I will appreciate any comments and suggestions for the site as I haven't been trying my hands on a website in 10 years and am thus very inexperienced in web design.
You are calling that laptop trash ?

i have been gaming on a laptop that has intel hd 3000 aka the one intel dropped the support bomb, the thing does not even support dx11, or open gl 3.3.

if it supported dx11 i could at least start up some games but nope all i get is message screen and crash.

I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. But coming from a Core i7 with 24 GB of RAM and a GTX 670 yes I'd say that for gaming it is quite crap... It was basically the cheapest windows machine I could find.
I'd encourage you to make YouTube videos talking about this stuff, too, since that's a great way to build a fanbase. If/when you have extra cash, buy other old crappy computers to test stuff on. :)

BTW, you might also share your site on the appropriate subreddits (that allow self-promotion).

Without yet checking your web site, thanks for this. I find this interesting because from time to time I think if I should buy a cheapo entry level laptop (because my gaming laptop is big and bulky), and I wonder how well it can run games.

Then again my work laptop isn't that much more powerful either, it has Intel Graphics too etc., and it is fine for playing lots of older games. Perfect for GOG gaming. I just wouldn't try to run The Witcher 3 on it (or even The Witcher 2; the first Wicher, barely).

To me the big surprise was that Intel HD graphics has surprisingly good backwards compatibility with older games. I've had lots of cases where an old game had problems with NVidia Geforce, but runs fine on Intel HD, even infamous games like Gorky 17.
I checked your website, but it isn't easily viewable. It's a comparatively small bar between a big top bar saying 'Playing games on trash' that remains in place while scrolling down and a small bottom bar saying 'deze website is gemaakt met WIX.com' that also remains in place and can't be clicked away, leaving not enough real estate for the site to be easily viewable on a widescreen monitor. Is there anything you can do about that, or would it be needed to be hosted on another site?

I do recommend starting a YouTube channel as well, if you feel comfortable talking and making vids of you trying out the games. RandomGamingInHD and budget-builds official did just that. It's popular with lots of people who dislike the great YouTube channels like Linus focussing just focussing on the high-end.

There is a sub reddit dedicated to gaming on shitty PCs and Youtube channels too. Perhaps you could gather info from those sources and add them to your page.

I'm afraid that is out of the question... My computer can barely run youtube videos... Producing them would require another computer and the entire reason I made the site in the first place was to give some info to people like me who can't afford a top of the line computer. BTW the editor for the website is also insanely slow so even editing that is quite a hassle...

I have made the top bar part of the page that can be scrolled off screen. The bottom bar is the price for free hosting I'm afraid. As this is just a bit of a hobby thing and I don't monetize anything I'm not going to pay for hosting to get rid of it.

As I said in my previous post there is no way I'll be able to produce videos on a computer of this calibre. Another thing is that it's quite easy to hear my Danish accent when I speak in English whereas when I write I can sort of get by without anyone noticing that it isn't my first language. So that is another reason to stick to the website format.

I gotta admit that I haven't ever really plunged the depths of reddit. I guess I find it a bit scary trying to find any proper info on there. The problem with youtube videos is that if I embed them I can't even test them properly myself as my computer can't seem to run youtube videos without choking on them... Kind of funny. I can watch full HD videos if they are on my hard drive. But it chokes on 480p youtube videos. And I'm on a 100 Mbit internet connection...

Yes, it's more easily viewable that way.

Fun thing I noticed about your laptop is, that's it's not crappy in every way: it has usb 3.0 and an SSD. It just got a crappy cpu and gpu.

Well basically it is an entry level laptop. But it is a new laptop and that is certainly felt in that way. BTW the display is awesome... Getting a full HD display is great though it also makes it necessary to lower the resolution in order to be able to read text as 1920x1080 on a 14" screen is a quite high dpi. Especially Age of Wonders gave me that problem.

Reddit is a scary place but there are some great sub reddits there.
