Shadowflight: Got this Red Alert game, got the confirmation email but its still on on my client, its registered as pendng for the last few hours.
avatar
GR00T: I suspect this game is getting slammed due to popularity. Give it some time and it will likely show up.

avatar
Shadowflight: I tried to contact their support. Jesusfuckingchrist I have never seen anything as inept masquerading as a customer support service.
avatar
GR00T: It could definitely be streamlined, but the two times I've had to go to their support, they did sort things out (once I navigated the labyrinth).
Thanks for the reply :)

I did it a number of ours ago, but Im in no hurry, so hopefully it will arrive someday :)

Cadaver747: Odd, I have no issues with Starcraft 1 at all. Or should I try Alt+Tab more? ;)
avatar
darthspudius: haha that is odd. It gives me the buggered colour palette every time.
Well I specifically re-installed Battle.NET and then Starcraft Anthology to check this out again. Blizzard logo looked like sh!t with all the greenish pixels. Cutscenes menu and battlefield on the other hand have no issues with improper color palette or any other video distortion. I don't understand this at all.

Cadaver747: ...
Offtopic 2: There are rumors circulating about extensive communication between Head of CD Project RED (and also GOG) and EA. Maybe they are discussing new EA games wave who knows.
avatar
LeoLR: Actually the rumours were about this.
Well my sources say only that management of CDPR had extensive communication with EA management. Not about selling or merging or any other stuff, just about "communication". You see? The buyout by EA was lately speculated by public. As far as I know Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński founders or CDPR and GOG.com, that *may* mean that talks were about new offers at GOG.com, not the buyout. I just don't get why people first imagine things and then provide them as facts.

there was a fan made mod for Starcraft that expanded the resolution. Unfortunately it has been that long that I can't remember what it was called.

darthspudius: Fall for what? It's a free game on the basis you use your client to download and play. There is nothing to fall for.

garvanell: Disclaimer: Please don't be offended. Thank you for giving everyone the choice to get the games.

My point:
1) There is no free lunch
2) I am not partiticipating in inflating origin's user numbers. Die, already (origin, that is. Not you!)
1) Sure there is, I'd buy you one if you want one :)
2) Origin sure is better than Steam.

I should have made myself more clear about this. :-) Neither I believed in the buyout proposal as it seems too far fetched (The "source" of the rumour appears to not be real) . Assuming this communication indeed occurred it was probably about possible releases here in the future, as you said.

Well, in the end I tried their "Chat" service, it was brilliant, it didnt sort my problem, you were right about the servers getting hammered! :)

The guy was very polite, helpful, friendly and gave me a 15% discount code for future purchase.

Would definately complain again 5/5 stars!

Atlantico: 2) Origin sure is better than Steam.
Out of curiosity could you elaborate on that? Have bad experience with both services.

Yeah and I hope they'll bring C&C series here, along with Mass Effect / Dragon Age, and Need for Speed... and The Saboteur please ;)

I have had bad experiences with GOG. Doesn't mean I'll stop using them. :D

Origin as a service is miles ahead of Steam in customer service, Origin as a client is lightweight and non-bloated, unlike Steam which is full of trading cards and untold other nonsense - it is a DRM'd online distribution client just like Steam, but better in all objective criteria.

So if I had to choose between the two, Origin wins hands down every time.

Game still hasn't appeared on my list. I'll wait a bit before contacting support.

I have it on disc and finished it a couple of times, so it's not that big a deal; but I wouldn't say no to a digital copy.

Yes, mine was there this morning :)

I only have one other game on origin, Kingdoms of Amalur, but in the end I replaced that with a Steam version + the DLC's from a bundle, so I never really think in terms of buying from Origin, but I was very impressed with my experience over this offer and my contact with their customer support, I will definately buy stuff there in future.

I think I have over 20 games from them all free at this point. No need to buy them lol.

For me a the father of a family of gamers, Origin does something else that VALVe have tried to stop.

If daughter is playing Sims3 on my account, then son starts C+C also on my account, under Steam Daughter would be booted.

Under Origin the client quietly goes into offline mode and lets Sims3 keep playing, even online games will keep playing though the client is offline.

That alone makes Origin far superior to Steam.

Of course by that logic, if you brought the game here, everyone in the house could be playing it and the internet could be free to download some porn. Hence DRM/Client Free > Origin + Steam.
