Activision has announced "Call of Duty: WWII" as the next game in the series.
Sledgehammer Games, the studio known for co-developing "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" with Infinity Ward, and for developing "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare", is working on the game.

There will be a worldwide reveal livestream on April 26.

Cool to see a next gen ww2 game with Normandy on it, this and battlefield 1 will be my most played games right next to Unreal Tournament 3 black Edition this year.
Still waiting for the first two games to show up here on GOG...
Not surprised by this move at all after the Battlefield 1 vs Infinite Warfare debacle. Can't say that I'm thrilled, however. Especially since it sounds 100% like a desperate PR decision or something. Hope they will at least try to go for really new scenarios that have not quite been covered by earlier WWII shooters yet. I'm still tired from the dozens of invasions of Normandy that I played through more than ten years ago and there's still a fair amount of interesting WWII scenarios left that have barely been covered by action games although I doubt that Activision has the balls to touch many of them (e.g. the Winter War, the Nomonhan Incident, the Battle of Monte Cassino, the Burma Campaign or the Warsaw Uprising).

In the appeared leak was written, that there will be invasion of Normandy and European operations. So, i'm afraid, there will be no Africa, Pacific, Eastern front or even Italy. In the leaked screenshots there are American troops in the Normandy. Again. Well, if they put a decent story and characters like in Brothers in Arms, then it might work. Maybe... But, honestle, in opinion, it would be much more interesting if they made game about Korea or Vietnam (Black Ops Vietnam missions was quite interesting).

Two?! I was hoping for the first ten of the series: from first up to the Ghost included.

Sadly, the setting is just one thing that turned me off the last iterations of COD. It really jumped the shark when it became obsessed with kill streaks. WWII is cool and all, but, if it still has all the other COD BS tacked on, I'll still pass on it.
When is Call of Duty going to have a German, Italian, Japanese Campaign? How many times can you make a WW2 game with Amerikans, Soviets, etc

As long as people are buying the same recycled games, nothing will change.Think about it.I f you were the CEO of a large publishing company, and you notice that a huge pile of money is being generated without any effort, would you change something about it? I guess not ;).Cheers

Our left wing civilisation would never let us play as the Nazi's. Since literally everyone is Hitler, literally.

F@ck Europe and The Untied States! let it all burn! I want to play something different for once..
I'm sure it'll show the same sort of respect and reverence needed for such a deadly war.

In the same sense that a Marx Brothers production would be subtle about a subject.
The first Call of Duty remains the best WW2 shooter ever made. Don't know if they can bring back the magic, though.

Well, in my opinion second is the best WWII game in the series: there is interesting level where you must capture points in area, absolutely stunning level where you assault hill and then defend it from counterattack. World at War was interesting, but had less variety in level design.

But if we must choose best WW2 shooter ever made, i will choose Brothers in Arms series. Very interesting gameplay, character and very accurate historically.

And yet Red Orchestra 2 had a German campaign. Go figure.
