Petrell: It's on sale on Humble Store and you get GOG key if you purchase it there like with all the Witcher games.
Why do we have the Gog store then ?

To redeem the key and download the game? Also that's like asking why there's more than one store for anything or more than one of anything else for that matter. ;-p XD

Obviously it's better for GOG, CD Projekt RED and CD Projekt group as whole if you buy directly from GOG as they get 100% of the moneys if you buy here.

I mean why the game isn't on sale on Gog ?

Because products generally aren't put on sale in every store in which they're sold all at once, nor for the same amounts. You spread the promos around.
This is like asking, "Why aren't games sold at their lowest sale prices all the time?"
Thank you for posting this. I went to Humble store and got the expansion pass for 50% off thanks to your grieving post!
I have been waiting for a good sale on the expansion pass so as not to be punished for buying the base game early. Thanks again!

OlivawR: Sale or not gaming is one of the cheapest hobbies.
avatar
Petrell: Gaming is rather expensive hobby actually. Even if you only purchase games from bundles or only on steep discounts, over time you end up paying quite a lot. Then there's the hardware required to consider and finally, last I checked, electricity is not free, at least not where I live.
PS4 + witcher 3 cost around 280€. PS4 uses around 150 watts while gaming. If you play it 100 hours, you have something like 3 €/h cost.

As I said, expensive (and while console hardware is cheaper, games tend to be more expensive) . If you want to talk about cheap hobbies, try walking, jogging, cycling or other such hobby that does not require large investment. But let's not derail the topic. ;-)

Petrell: I paid 50 € for Master of Orion III when it came out back in the day. I'll go cry in the corner. ;-p
Oh dear :-( I think the price for it is too high on GOG today at €9.49.

FreeOrion is free!

Spearo: I thought it would be a good idea to buy Witcher 3 6 days ago. Now it is 50% off. Arrrggrummmlllpff!

I just needed a vent.
Thank you.

P.S.: Aaaaaarrrgggh!
Been there, done that. Even with Witcher 3 as well. I got it when it first went into pre-order. Since its release, I've installed and played its first minutes, but never went beyond that, because I got stuck into my mind that I'll finish Witcher 2 first.

Oh, and I got Witcher 2 as a gift from someone on the forum, back when it was a pre-order as well.

Man, I'm such a failure. T_T

Let's put it this way. If the developers had paid me 50 € instead of me paying them, it still would not have been good deal if I had to play the game. It was that bad. :-p

I have played it (last official version) and watched a playthrough video with it heavily modded and I think FreeOrion has surpassed it already. A few nifty ideas and alright changes compared to the prior games but with lots of unnecessary complexity and your absolute power has been taken away. Game play is much slower than the other MoO games.

Maxvorstadt: 10 Eurons... 4.99 Eurons...
Hello, stranger! What planet are you from?

Just to be clear, I was still talking about Master of Orion III above, not FreeOrion. ;-p

Though I've followed FreeOrion for years, I have yet to try it out. From Youtube let's play videos it looks interesting though there is not much resemblance to MoO 1/2 it's supposed to be inspired by. Not necessarily a bad thing as it seems stand on it's own merit rather than trying to create modernized replica of cult classic.

I was also talking about MoO3 as being too complex and bogged down with menus nestled within menus within menus. FreeOrion is clearly inspired by Master of Orion 3 (We can make a better games based on that same idea).
