I find it strange for a developer to even have a forum these days. Surely something like twitter or facebook should be enough. And for an old style forum, isn't reddit enough? I never used their forums and I never use social media, so this doesn't affect me, but for the community that probably formed around Mass Effect this must be sad news.

Kind of odd since people don't trust indie developers much either, what a shame. Maybe it just wasn't run proper?
I always thought of forums more of a way for users/customers to talk to each other about products and not as a way to talk to developers.

That is precisely correct. And on their blog, the ignorance of that fact is literally celebrated by BioWare. :|
I hope they shut down Bioware points too (for good).

Never thought of Bioware as indie. Wiki says that they are owned by EA.

Sorry, it was kind of the "hope they shut them down" comment which made me think that the less solid developers around, the more indie developers spring up, some really good, some just 'meh', I wasn't saying Bioware was independent development at all.

They did not do this already?

No sorry to say that they haven't, you can still buy Bioware Points unfortunately.
It fits.

And its sad it does fit.

Then again the Bioware I loved and cared about is long gone anyway; this now is just a company using familiar names.

I agree!
