justanoldgamer: I plan to play it sitting down while enjoying a beer.
Preferably a Hobgoblin from Wychwood brewery, if you can get that on your side of the pond. Imagine that, drinking Hobgoblin while slaying hobgoblins.
Make a dwarf warrior and call him Guzzle Ironbelly. Drink alot of beer till you see multiple keyboards and mice. Slur your words and go berserk in combat. Win win for first time play through. Bring some jerkies for those long journeys and a wench for the cold nights.

Run around the castle and do little errands for the gogsters.
Just out of curiosity, what is the average size party that you folks use?

It depends on my character, but generally, I like 4. Small enough to easily micro-manage in battle and get good experience, large enough that I can get a good mix of characters and skills. I have solo'd the game, but I find it more fun with a party.

reaver894: originals, melee non magic :-D

hyperagathon: Originals, but dual into magic after a few levels of melee. Unless you're planning on importing your character into BG2, then multi melee / magic.
Dual at 13 melee class to caster class, for getting most melee class gains (like that second attack)! A 13 fighter max mage also has max number of spell slots, too!

Six in 1, all custom created from me, rolled with super stats after quite a few minutes rerolling on each!

Three in 2, same pattern, plus wife, plus brother (sarevok), plus filler.

Breja: Maybe I'm just cheap, but even on sale it's still 13$. Since you already own the classic editions, I'd play that first, at least for a couple of hours just to see if you like it at all. Then if you feel like you do, but have some issues that you think Enhanced edition might fix, buy it. Seems like a safer way, might save you the 13$ to spend on a game you'll like more.
I just checked and I'm seeing 85% off out of US$20, 3 dollars for each game, 6 if you buy both of them individually.

The series on the other hand only shows up as 68% off out of US$40, and is US$13 as you said.

So apparently buying them individually will cost less than half of the series pack.

I prefer 4 personally; I really like having that small level advantage over bigger parties. That said, I have played a variety of party sizes. Not a big fan of going 2 or below, though; you lose out on flexibility with so few party slots.

You're missing out on the entertainment value of the NPC's! For me, that's one of the best parts of the series.

I have to agree. But their stats are very wrong and i can't control them... Also infighting among group members is such a terrible thing...

Can't remember, time to play it again i think.
If only i had not lost the boxed version along with many others good old games :(
Thanks for the answers, everybody. In the end, I decided not to get the EE versions, at least not now.

First, because according to SteamDB, thanks to conversion rates, even though they're bloody cheap here in USD, they've actually been cheaper on Steam in BRL. It would also make acquiring the Siege of Dragonspear cheaper and easier in the future.

I also don't really think I'll manage to play them right now, ever since I got my Desktop out of the Storage unit, I've been unable to really focus on a game and finish it, torn between the games I was playing back when I put it away and the games I was playing in the laptop and the new games I keep acquiring every now and then (though recently I've been putting A LOT of time into Grim Dawn and I have recently started a relationship as well).

As for using ports with the originals, should I get that one that merges both games in a single one or should I keep'em separated and use BG1's systems and classes to play it?

How so? Are you getting a discount there? I paid R$22 for both of them here, with the discounts, after the conversion, and Steam shows me R$37 for just one of them.
So, if I already have both originals and EE, are there any compelling reasons to play the originals other than nostalgia and SJW butthurt?

I meant historically, not now. At their lowest, they'd add up to less than R$18,00 over there.
