this popped up Yesterday and a video showing what it looks like a new console or something of some sorts. but one guy on atari age has something to do with this project and indications are aiming at a new home console so far code named Atari box from tossed around info from the web.

Bill Loguidice from atariage in the thread talks about that it is not partnerd with retro game console makers and its with something else so this is interesting.

I thought this was going to be named Atari Chameleon for a second. lol
Well this is interesting...
"Atari" needs to let Night Dive get their hands on Blood...
I doubt Dabney & Bushnell are back to console building. The Atari logo has been sold and swapped so many times I'm a tad surprised the current owners even know where it came from before it had been dragged through the mud for decades and used as poo fling shield for companies that messed up and required a name change.

Just do not expect a labour of love but rather a love for nostalgia cash-in at best here.
lol wat. They should help fund this by giving Devolver the Blood IP at an actual fair price. Cunts.
Weren't Atari consoles back in the day basically the king of shovelware?
We have an elite research team in the field right now, looking for reasons to care. You'll get a full report as soon as they find anything.

Not exactly,e they really had no say on what was released on the consoles back then as they didn't have a restrictive agreement in place like Nintendo.

But does it really belong to Atari, or actually to Warner Bros?

Very intersting. I'll be keeping my eye on this--whatever it might be...
I would actually like this if it's basically an emulation machine, but not only for atari's arcade and the 2600, but also 5200, 7800, 8 bit computers, etc.

They actually wanted to do that when they tried to forbid Activision making games for the 2600. They lost in court. Thankfully. Imagine the Atari 2600 without the Activision games.

But were their any truly "great" games on Atari consoles or was it all just primitive stuff like Tetris or Pong?

Asteroids, centipede, milipede, donkey kong, donkey kong jr, I could go on and on. This COULD be an awesome system if they put stuff from the 5200 and 7800, their 8 bit computers along with arcade and 2600.
