the first console I ever bought was PS2 (though I had NES and SNES growing up and some other consoles as hand-me-downs). PS2 was epic and I still love it to this day.
By the time I was ready to purchase a PS3, they got rid of the backward compatibility in hardware. Around that time, it started becoming apparent that Sony cared little for game preservation in general and was starting to shift toward making movie-like games. The removal of hardware backward compatibility was the driving factor, but also around that time, I started falling in love with the original Xbox (Halo and Fable to blame).
Anyway, 360 followed my PS2 and since then I've not looked back on Sony. After they killed their PSP and Vita and started pivoting even harder into games that play like B-rated movies, I knew that I made the right decision. It would be years before all the RPGs that made PS1/2 and PSP so memorable started showing up across all consoles.
Then Sony joined Nintendo is declaring an outright war on older games and started pulling plugs on older storefronts and making swaths of their library unavailable.
Fast forward and today I own a minifridge (S|X) and will likely never entertain the idea of having a melted piece of plastic (PS5).
I do admit I loved "Lost Odyssey" but in terms of being the full suite, very few companies compare to pre-Sammy Sega.
