I am making this thread regarding apehater’s unhealthy obsession with accusing low reppers of scamming.

He has declared this personal crusade against people with low rep due to some misguided personal idealism.

He thinks he is doing some kind of justice here by getting rid of scammers. In reality, he is just throwing around the word "scammer" to anyone he sees with a low rep.

To be fair, I don't think that the GAs that don't allow for lower-rep people, at least all of the time, related to the fear of scammers, but just that people want to do giveaways for people who have been a bit more active on the forums/around longer.

That's a fair point, although I don't recall seeing that at all before the scammers showed up. Which now that I think of it is probably coincidental as that was about the same time that there was an influx of anti-social folks taking things in giveaways.

I no longer do any giveaways because I'm not really interested in giving to ingrates. If I want to give something away, I'll give it to a specific person. As opposed to the past where I'd sometimes code drop or funnel a giveaway through somebody that was already doing giveaways.

I don't give away to low levels either. There are good reasons for it, the main one already mentioned in this thread.

I'm kind of sorry I brought that up. Giveaways are slightly different.

But, OTOH, the level of paranoia directed at rep-impaired members has gotten way out of hand lately. I can't blame people for not wanting to come in here and put up with the bullshit.

If I was a new comer to this community now, I wouldn't of stayed. It's changed for worse in my opinion.

Ok, here's my 2 cents. Giveaways aren't a right. They are a privilege. Are they ever fair? No, not unless every entrant gets to win a prize. It sucks that a few bad seeds cause so much damage, and it sucks when you don't meet the giveaway requirements, BUT I think you are missing the point:

The reason this community is awesome isn't because of the giveaways--the giveaways are only a byproduct of the overwhelming generosity of this community.

It is my sincerest hope, doronnorod, and all the other low rep new people that are earnest about being a member here, that as you build your rep to participate in giveaways for the higher rep requirements--that you finally realize that this forum isn't ABOUT free games or re-distribution of wealth.

That this forum has such a well-rounded group from many walks of life and areas. This allows us to be able to discuss things way off from the normal gaming topics. This allows us to be real with each other and actually relate to one another other than flaming, hating, trolling, insulting, and other derogatory behavior you see rampant on other (gaming, et al.) sites. Sure we aren't perfect--we are far from a communal nirvana, yet we are all connected by a common thread, a common love: a love of gaming.

I hope you realize the real reason to participate on the forums is to enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship I and many others feel on this forum. And if that happens, then you might find it pays off--not just in giveaways, but in something much more meaningful. And heck, you might even start your own giveaways!

I say something similar posted by Swatkat (or something like that) profile and later we came to know that profile was sold to a scammer.
Also 40+ rep in 1 month means either you are too good at problem solving or you are hyper active in community.
People don't get impressed that easy.
Show him your forum activity and he wont trouble you again.

Oh, and there's the truth. If you are a regular member and people recognize you and you mention you've been hit by the rate down brigade I don't see why most people wouldn't let you enter giveaways. If people check and see you've only been in giveaways and your brand new 2015 member it's probably not going to work out very well.

This whole thing is starting to smell like "I'm a scammer but I did everything right, even did all that hard work alt rating myself up, and I still didn't get free games!"

Maybe you could just try to be an active community member next time to get free games, it might be easier.
