It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I did check my recent habits, and I changed way I use GOG after update...
Now I basically ignore store-front, and go just into "community" to check forums, then wishlist and games list (for sales of WL items, and updates of games I own ... eer... "have in library").

Sounds like a good deal for GOG, I wonder how I will notice something interesting is added to the store. :D

Anyway, the amount of moving parts (auto-play videos, paralax/dynamic layout, animation of layouts transitions) is way beyond my taste, it's now very difficult to read the site for me, as it contains so much clutter which I usually just switch off (if it's like effect animation in OS), so I'm not used to work with such mess.

And the bad things about previous design change did stay, like the changelogs scrollable in small sub-view fighting for scrolling focus with whole page, etc...

I already disliked the previous design a lot, and the new one is definitely worse for me.

Something I have not seen mentioned before: the game user lists are gone: Without them, as I don't use windows there are a ton of games I don't know any more if they will work or not. There used to be lists who told you so. For me it is closing the door to buying a load of games.

I also dislike the new design to a point where I don't know if I will ever buy anything from GOG again.

Whoever thought using a mobile design for a shop selling PC games is a good idea should be fired. And I don't say such things lightly. I really mean it. This is a failure of epic proportions. They lost contact with their customer base and seem to be looking for a new one. The last company trying to pull such a stunt was SOE with Star Wars Galaxies and we know how this turned out.

What I especially don't like is:

- no support for older firefox versions or some other browsers
- on login showing a spinning circle of death without showing the login page although it is there (invisible)
- that hovering large in your face BUY button is just cheap
- too much scrolling needed for less information
- news hidden or not functioning (with firefox)
- wrong priorities on what to show the user first (big banners, videos, curated lists, really?)
- the site should function without using any java script. It does not.
- the site should funtion without any third party code (e.g. Google captcha). It does not.

I am sorry. This was a site I enjoyed visiting and looking at stuff. Now it is not.

Wow, these zooming animations alone are pretty annoying already, but what's even worse is they cause the CPU load to jump up a lot (and with it the CPU fan). That means I'll avoid visiting the front page as much as possible from now on.

Sure. If Gog don't solve the lack of list view and the genre appearing in an easy way on the store browsing, Gog is dead for me.

I said I was willing to wait until after the sale to give the new front page a chance, and... I still don't like it. I miss having a proper News section, and the zooming animations are really annoying (and make the page slower to load). Overall it just seems a lot less functional and informative in general - and I'm (mostly) fine with the changes to individual game pages, so this isn't just a case of "waah it's different and I hate it."

Same here .... its a media 'circus' zooming,s crolling, autoplay previews, the most important info for me is all the way down the game page: System requirements .... is one of the most important info i need and the price of the game.

Very hard to quickly find whats new, its too hard to get into the current active part of the forum, like when new games arrived , with the old layout ( which had its problems aswell ( not that bad as the new one though)

Able to reply and read the latest added games page in seconds, with the old layout which wanst tha great but still better, and easier to find topic and games.

I have to realy search for it between all the colourfull elements that pop and grow and zoon in .... (✖╭╮✖) ...
and i know its mobile first but ..... i have seen so many bad websites, sites that perform bad on a decent laptop, or any real pc ( no mobiles)

Anyway a forum usually goes mobile first , well i have one ugly mobile forum its the forum for gladiatus ( gameforge dot com) they have a new terrible, awfull 'forum'

fancy a laugh: https://forum.gladiatus.gameforge.com/
be warned though , use a mobile device, phone, ipad perhaps, ( i have none to test) best fun is to use firefox on a pc , aslong as its a real pc no mobile stuff, (devices).

Its a new and very beautiful forru (✖╭╮✖)

OMG, there's a zoom effect, I'll stawp buying from GOG!!!

Nah, just kidding. New design is mostly okay. I think the news section should move a bit to the top (News = Have a look at it = at the top of the page), but I can live with the other changes on the front page.

New game pages (they're not that different from the old ones) have two weird design choices:

1. Why did you place the "Add to cart" box over the video header? You put the video right at the top (= Hey people, watch this!) and at the same time you hide it behind another element (= Don't bother with the video, it's nothing important, just background decoration). Weird...

2. Why didn't you put the system requirements into the right column? Together with all the other game details? You have two sections there. One (left column) is a description of the game (together with goodies and achievements) and the other one is about technical details and general info (genre, developer, file size, languages, features). Putting the system requirements into the technical section makes more sense to me. Especially since most new releases come with lots of GIFs and images in the left column (it's much longer than the right one). But that's just a minor detail.

I like what you did with the reviews. That's really great!

nusatsum: I don't like it. It disrupts my usual experience of gog to the point where I don't want to use it. Where did the option go to show all the games that are currently on sale? Why do we have to see this giant header for each game only to scroll down for the actual content. Usability is worse.

Think about it. I'm used to going to gog and buying games a particular way. Done so over 200 times already. Now I have to learn how to use gog all over again. I didn't like the last design overhaul either. I want the *original* gog back. Simple, fast and easy (no comment re: analogies).

IDEA : Why not split test (marketing term) multiple designs and let the people pick which they prefer? It would take more work, I understand as I am a web developer, but it would end this contention and help to prevent alienating your customers. Website upgrades of this magnitude should be optional. Put the customers first.

I love Gog. And I appreciate all your hard work. But you need to think about the user experience. Don't expect your customers to jump through hoops to send you money. I hate to say it here but look at Steam. Steady as she goes.

You have some talented web people. BUT. You must give more thought to the user experience.
That'd be a sensible plan and nobody likes those anymore. Judging by the lack of communication from GOG and the lackluster excuses when they violated user privacy I don't think they care.

The new layout is okay, but sites usually check which browser you have and what settings it has , and usually ( 99% of the time ( minus a few that arent responsive) they adapt to it, this layout doesnot like the % set to 100% which is default setting, if decrease it by 10% so it becomes 90% all of a sudden the boxes appear as if by magic.

Anyway its not the way it should work, but at 90% i'm still able to read the site, with the exception of the forum, the font used is very small , and at 90% its not easy to read it.

I don't mind the new design much - it's not great, but serviceable enough I guess - but ...

Why in the name of ancient horrors is the news section hidden at the very bottom, -and- lazy-loaded, so it only shows up about 5-10 seconds after everything else? The majority of people looking at the site will be existing customers, not showing them what's new is rather ... poorly thought out.
With the current layout GOg has its harder to get to all thegames then with the old layout
using the Steam site which is also not a beauty but seems almost the same it was before so i know where to look

The funny thing is GOG should know their 'veterans', the members who joined right after GOG was founded and started a community, the 'older' more 'veteran' users love old stuff/things thats why we joined, we are different in a way :D

Anyway like you said:
" The majority of people looking at the site will be existing customers, not showing them what's new is rather ... poorly thought out."

New members usually care less, and 'todays' new members (13-21) usually don't mind, they are used to innovation
they dont have the history and memories oldtime gamers have, i like the good old days and games.....but they are gone which doesnt mean we have to play or buy games we dont like.

Ahwell ... gonna play an old game :D
I like the filters, but there should be another one which is sadly lacking: games
i want to show only games no dlc no music , only games

check attachment: onlydlc.jpg

Its only DLC that shows.
