dtgreene: Let's see... Here are a few, I think.

Can you identify the games? (There are some clues here, and two of them are for the same game.)
avatar
thraxman: Two are from ES Oblivion.
And the other two?
Here's a fine example I just came across in Mafia II.

The first is Wizardry 8, and a stab at the second as ES daggerfall.

edit: To be fair with the Wizardry 8 one, you left the name in file, (wiz8_oob.jpg)

I know I left the file name as-is, even though it does ruin the question a bit.

For the second, you are partially correct, but it's not Daggerfall. Try again. (There *is* a clue.)

Edit: I've added a fifth screenshot, attached to this post.

Is It ES Arena, the font on the Mages Guild is from ES.

Good job. Now, figure out the fifth screenshot I posted.

There's one other game I'd like to post a screenshot of, but I would need to play up to the point where I can get that screenshot.

The last is a Zelda, but bugger me which one. It’s probably SNES and Game Boy era (going by aspect ratio), maybe A Link to the Past on an emulator.

Edit: yes its A Link to the Past, the hud layout matches your screen shot perfectly.

Matewis: Not sure if it's a glitch, but either way: the physics couldn't quite keep up with a few, uhm, oversights in my design :P
Only Bob seemed to be concerned...
Hahaha...That looks like something, I came up with. :)

avatar
mike_cesara: It does quite often actually. Every time I need something to be done.. ; )
lol, yeah, I can totally understand that.

avatar
thraxman: Is that meant to be a reference to the old JATO urban legend?
I have no clue, really...but I guess no, because the wrecked car lacks the JATO-unit.

However, your post remembered me of this little story:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEcSDwGLDC4

It's a video (in German!) about a guy, who drove so fast, that he catapulted his car into a church roof.
A jump, 35 meters long, and 7 meters high. :)

Ah, the good old "look onto the other side"...often encountered, in many games - the first Thief springs to mind, immediately, also the first Gothic...I think, this happens mostly in games, where you try to work your way around the boundaries, that the devs set (try to reach corners, that you're not really supposed to reach).

In the first Gothic, I managed to kill a Cave Troll (?) way before I was actually ready to face such an opponent, just because I tried to get around him.
I climbed up the mountain, where he resided, into regions, I definitely wasn't "allowed" to go, and was looking for a way to creep behind him, when I slipped, rushed down the mountain side and fell into his cave.

In that moment I was thinking "shit!, I haven't saved for about an hour, and now he'll kill me!"

Running for my life, I managed to get onto a ledge behind a rock, where the troll could not reach me, if I kept hidden.
From out of that hide, I shot arrows at the troll, which angered him, of course, so he came and tried to reach me...I was dodging all attacks, always slipping to the other side of the rock I was hiding behind, and slashing with my sword at him.
When he then changed position, to reach me on that side...I changed to the other side again, rinse and repeat...it cost me a lot of sweat and time, but in the end, I killed him, and could loot his cave.

:) good old times

A little gem I stumbled across while playing the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. during the Arena fight "knife vs. high powered rifle". It's exactly what it says on the tin...I get a knife, the other guy gets a rifle. Fight!:

I'm dashing from cover to cover, hoping that my opponent will run out of bullets at some point. Apparently, though, that just annoys him because he suddenly retreats to his starting position and just keeps blindly firing round after round in the direction of my last cover. This goes on for a minute.

Finally I'm like "U mad, bro?", hit quicksave and run along the side wall towards his position, knife at the ready, expecting to die of lead poisoning any second. Instead I reach the back wall unharmed, look around my cover and see the guy still firing away into the arena without a care in the world.

"Alrighty, not just mad, but also deaf and blind", I think to myself, swiftly punching several new breathing holes into his chest. I win.

*flash*

I'm back in the entrance area and go over to What's-his-name to collect my winnings. All of a sudden the lead concentration in my body spikes to dangerous levels. I frantically close the dialogue window, turn right and the last thing I see before the last bullet hits me between the eyes is my (royally pissed off) opponent from the earlier fight.

*Game Over*

WTF?

*quickload*

Same story. The middle line backer backs the middle, I'm sprinting up the side of the field, nice tackle *stab* *stab* *stab*

*flash*

I'm back in the entrance area and walk over to What's-his-name to collect my winnings. Nothing out of the ordinary happens. I carefully glance towards the arena door to my ri-...wait, isn't that...

My brain still marvels at the sudden rush of fresh air between my ears while the screen happily announces

*Game Over*

"§/&%$%)§"§=)&%$§"=)$%...!"

*quickload*

He flanks, he stabs, he scores!

*flash*

"You won't get me this time, Shooty McSoreLoser!". I rush right past What's-his-name and ignore my winnings, may my victory stand on its own. Instead I dive towards the chest to get back my belongings, grab my assault rifle and aim at the door. And aim at the door. And aim...you know what, I think we've made it. No more bug. Hooray! I head over to What's-his-name and collect my winnings.

Just as I close the dialogue window someone shoots me in the back quite rudely. I hastily retreat behind a corner, chomp down a medpack, glance around the corner and well, well, well...if it isn't Loser McButthurt. "I'll show you! Your skull is my new ammo cache, let me store a couple of bullets in it!"

His attempts to stop my bullets with his face are as quaint as they are futile.

*Attentions, Stalkers! One of ours was murdered!*

"WHAT???"

A careful stroll across the square in front of the arena confirms that the Stalkers don't seem to like me anymore. Well, either that or Russians have a weird way of showing their love and appreciation. Like...gun salutes...right at me. "Goddammit! Yougottabeshittingme! Jesusfuckingchrist!" I exclaim, overflowing with joy while I punch the

*quickload* key again.

Flank. Stab. Win.

*flash*

Over to the chest, get my shit, get my cash, draw weapon, dive for cover. Waiting. Waiting. Nothing. I glance around the corner. No one in sight. I glance to the left...no one coming from the arena either. Gun ready I inch my way towards the door. A Duty Stalker looks at me, all but yawns in my face and continues on his patrol route. No sore losers anywhere in sight.

"In strange aeons even sore losers may die", apparently. I'm done. I leave the camp and head back out into the rough wilderness. With mutants at least you expect them to be a little loco and maybe not always following the script with the whole dying thing like they should...

Yes, the HUD is visible clearly in the screenshot I posted.

I believe it's possible for the game to glitch in such a way that the HUD becomes unreadable.

(The bug, found in the Japanese 1.0 version of the game, is triggered by using a potion on the same frame as a screen transition. Also, that's not the only possible effect of this bug.)

Randalator: Ouch!
Wow, what a story...I think I would have rage-quitted. :)
.............
But while we're telling stories: that reminds me of another incident, that I had with Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.

Has nothing to do with a bug or anything, it's just a story, that shows, how different personalities solve the same problem (though I'm still not sure how my brother did it - I'll have to re-play and try it some day).

There is this one room, that you enter, and then there is this Mech (sorry, it's has been so long ago, I can't remember what they were called in-game).

Inside that Mech is an opponent, and in the room are several pillars, that serve as a hiding point for you.

Now, I think there was some kind of interplay(?), and then a fighht begun...a rather unfair fight, as I may add, since the fucker in the Mech had auto-cannons, and I had not. ;)

However, in a very long fight, in which I always had to run from pillar to pillar, trying to get behind that sob, to shoot him in the back (weakest point), while at the same time trying to not get shot by him (did I mention the auto-cannon?), I finally managed to kill him.

What a feeling! :)

However - a few days later, I spoke with my brother, who also played Chronicles of Riddick at that time, and I bragged about my fight with that Mech and how I killed him, when my brother looked perplexed: "What Mech?"

I explained, there and there, if you enter that room, etc. etc.,...

My brother just looked at me, and said: "Yeah, I remember that room, but I didn't fight him, that seemed impossible - after all, he was armoured and had auto-cannons...so instead, I just climbed up the ladder and left him behind..."

Now I was the one perplexed...what did he mean "climbed the ladder"?

Well, turned out, it was seemingly possible, to just quickly climb up a ladder (which I took AFTER the fight) to get out of the room...without fighting.

I mean, my brother showed some respect, that I killed that Mech, but I felt pretty dumb, nonetheless...considering, that I had to try at least three times, to kill that bastard and only managed it with tons of swearing - and yet, I could've just skipped all that completely.

:)
I've shown these before, but some funny glitchy crashes I got in Stunts/4D Sports Driving:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXUKcqZWNkw

They were all accidental, not trying to do them on purpose. It is nice how Stunts lets you save replays after the race, if something worth saving happens...
First, the un-advertised Animal Husbandry minigame of Sacred 2.

Second and third, not a bugs or glitches, just lazyness and cheapness of Go Go Nippon.
