I did a similar giveaway last year at this time. I have refined the rules a bit to make them clearer, I hope.
This giveaway will award gift codes to 22 entrants. The terms will be as follows.
Each entrant must make a brief post, no more than one line please, as I want to screenshot these to compare to the later posts, letting me know you wish to join the giveaway and displaying to me your typical or current forum avatar. Entries will be first come, first served for 22 entrants. Would-be entrants must chime in on this thread before 12am Eastern Time October 31st, 2014. I'll make a post noting the entrants, should more than 22 try to enter. On October 31st, Halloween day in North America, I'll post to announce the beginning of the contest-resembling portion of the giveaway. Each entrant should follow this announcement with another post, displaying a DIFFERENT AVATAR than you had when making your original post. This is your Halloween costume for the purposes of the giveaway and it must remain your avatar on GOG for 24+ hours until I evaluate the avatars in order for you to still qualify.
Based on the codes which I've already purchased, I will attempt to match a gift code to your costume avatar to the best of my ability. So if you have a particular interest in a particular genre of game, you'll do well to choose an avatar that somehow reflects that interest.
Once I've had a chance to look over the avatars and send gift codes out via PM, I'll announce the end of the giveaway and entrants may go back to doing whatever they like with their forum avatars.
The selection of games here is something of a grab-bag. Some were chosen for having a spooky or scary setting appropriate to the holiday. Others were just on sale and I deemed them worthy of sharing because I enjoyed them. A few may have been freebies with other purchases. There is something of a slant toward a fantasy setting for many of the games, so that may be something to bear in mind, though sci-fi, horror, etc. are also represented.
Should you recieve a code for a game you already have or simply do not want, you are responsible for re-gifiting it to another GOG user, or after a month, I'll give away any unredeemed codes myself.
PM me if you need further clarification.
Perhaps final? Yes, I have grown somewhat distrustful of GOG, largely due to the inconsistent and confusing stance(s) they've taken on regional pricing. I have resolved to restrict my purchases here dramatically as a result, eliminating any games I am not absolutely sure I want, and ceasing most gifts and all giveaways, which I see as adding tremendous value to the site and support to GOG's efforts. If GOG wishes to once again benefit from my good nature, my trust will have to be regained.
