arguing about and ultimately debating things on the internet is hardly ever worth the effort. neither party ends up convinced of anything and both parties end up mad at one another. in my 20-plus years on the internet i don't think i've ever seen someone respond with a "you know what? you make a good point, maybe i should start looking at things from a different point of view." that just does not happen, or if it does i never see it.

i personally do not respond to insults, people who are trying to start an argument, and often those levying criticisms. not worth the energy and time expenditure trying to convince a bunch of e-people to share my e-pinion on topics that are ultimately far and beyond the everyman's reach.

mintee: this, so many people are caught up with social media now, not sure if it makes them the happier for it

for my part I see the basic mechanics of PC spelling doom for my aging bones, its pretty uncomfortable to game for long times, keyboard mouse and the ergonomic mess of chair and monitor. it will be the reason i stop, but I just cant get into consoles for the life of me

nightcraw1er.488: With regards to the k+m and chair monitor, get yourself a sit stand desk. I got one nearly 2 years ago and it's fantastic. As a long time gamer and use computers at work, I was getting rsi in both wrists (which did help with the snes hands to be honest), and really bad back. Since getting the new desk the back is much better and the rsi has gone down. I stand all the time gaming nowmeans I am moving about and the body doesn't get stuck in one position. I have a sit stand desk at work also, and split between sitting and standing as it can tire your legs and give you sore feet so don't overdo it.
I can dig out the name of the desk I got, really solid build, crank handle move up and down. And was only something like £150.
funny you should mention that, husband just got one for work and at the same time got one of those weird kneeler chairs (dont know what its called) for home. he loves the sit/stand at work, the kneeler he says feels good but isnt as good as the sit/stand, however theres a certain fat dog that loves the kneeler for its easily accessible perch for his fat ass while he games. lol

I may have to look into it for myself
well there is a difference in the kinds of games you're going to be playing on the ps4 as opposed to gog.

if you're anti-DRM and that affected your decisions on what you were playing on PC, that hunk of plastic is still also a giant DRM box.

the xbox360 won the majority in the last console generation and Microsoft tried to penis up the ass but Microsoft underestimated how much everybody wanted their Playstation back. the Playstation and Playstation 2 were fondly remembered. this is why the PS4 was as user-friendly as it was. it has recovered but if Microsoft won out in this console generation, you'd be lamenting not being able to play Horizon Zero Dawn because of the DRM box it runs on.

the living room form factor is also advantageous, which is part of what Valve was trying to add to the PC when it started its Steam Machine initiative.

Certainly, yeah. It still allows you to play your games offline, right out of the box (like I did with HZD - in fact, I couldn't get this thing to properly go online until I changed my provider). It even lets you, with one click, deactivate any kind of online functionality for all games. That's something I'd wish for GOG games to do because frankly, some of them give a damn. :|

Yeah the PS4 has been a pretty decent console. Check out Fighting EX Layer later this year. Tell your friends.
Since he's not returning to see any replies, we can talk smack about him! ; )

Kidding, man.

If going cold turkey on PC games, what about Running With Rifles? If nothing else, gonna thank you for rekindling my interest in the game.

I don't recall that, though tbh I'm not sure I know what it means in this context.

I do recall this.

I was referring to the events around the xbone's launch and why Sony took this generation despite what happened with the PS3.

He kind of beat us to it. It's not like there's anything worse we could say than "console gamer".
