Well folks, I have ended up with an extra key for the now-removed 3D Realms Anthology for Steam (I know Steam's not so popular here. Believe me, I HEAR you. At least these are mostly run through DOSBox, so no DRM). I'm going to be giving it away to a person who requests it (see below requirement : *). This anthology is no longer available, so this is a hell of a deal. It's basically nearly EVERY game in this Apogee catalog I put up long ago :

http://www.scribd.com/doc/134559074/Apogee-Catalog

Here's the trailer for it :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwr67W9d9DI

It contains the following games :

Alien Carnage / Halloween Harry
Arctic Adventure
Balls of Steel
Bio Menace
Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold
Blake Stone: Planet Strike
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
Crystal Caves
Dark Ages
Death Rally
Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem 2
Duke Nukem 3D
Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project
Hocus Pocus
Major Stryker
Math Rescue
Monster Bash
Monuments of Mars
Mystic Towers
Paganitzu
Pharaoh's Tomb
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
Realms of Chaos
Rise of the Triad: Dark War
Secret Agent
Shadow Warrior (Classic)
Stargunner
Terminal Velocity
Wacky Wheels
Word Rescue
Xenophage

* Ok, so to get this you only must answer either of the following easy questions :

- Name a game in this list that you recall playing long ago and tell a brief story about a memory of it, playing it, modding it, anything. The funnier, more insightful, or whatever, the better. Entertain us!

== or ===

- Name a game on this that you've really been wanting to play and why.

Best story/Reason gets the key. Happy hunting folks!

(Just a note, the key is for ALL the above games in ONE package, not a series of separate keys. If you already have a bunch of them, the key doesn't give you *additional* keys to hand out for any of the duplicate games that you already have. Basically, if you already have a lot of those games, please leave it to someone who doesn't. This is an amazing game collection. Someone should get to maximize their enjoyment as much as possible without potions of it going to waste due to redundancy via duplicates. Just a personal request.)

EDIT :
Ok, I changed the giveaway rules to best story rather than first. This way, people who maybe aren't usually or often on have a chance and we all get to gain by hearing each other's stories.

I'll give the key away next weekend on Sunday (that's 1/17) to allow a lot of good stories to build up.

My story, technically not in this pack, but 3D Realms/Apogee-related :
- Back when Wolf3D was released, one of my buddies in high school (early 90's) got editors for it (WolfEdit I believe : http://www.gog.com/forum/wolfenstein_series/level_editor) that allowed you to changed the graphics. I instantly turned the chain gun into a giant penis (I was maybe 15, so...). Running down nazis with a gigantic penis spraying cum scored a lot of humor points with my friends.

Later, my buddies and I made a bunch of levels we gave to each other. I strove for really detailed professional-looking levels. One friend made what we called "the Deaf-guard level". Basically, in Wolf3D, a "Deaf Guard" was one that didn't come running for you as soon as a sound of gunfire is heard. They'd just wait until you were in sight as a means of making ambush guards. My buddy made a maze path LINED with them facing outwards. You'd have to navigate it, trying to not get too close to any of the guards (which, the way it was designed made it VERY difficult), and thus activating them, which rapidly turned into an IMPOSSIBLE situation to deal when a stray bullet activated another guard, rapidly going awry (60+ guards firing at you at once). My buddy had to do a revision because I carefully took out the guards from the side one-by-one, which he thought would've been completely impossible. The look on his face was priceless! The 2nd revision I couldn't cheese to get the 100% kills ratio! Hahaha Good times!

Thanks for the giveaway! If it's possible, I'll enter. +1

So to answer the second question, I've been really wanting to play Terminal Velocity because I fell in love with the shareware version, and I never got around to getting the game or the anthology.

(EDIT) Okay, that was too short. So here's a longer version. I had fell in love with 3D Realms/Apogee when I first played Duke 3D. I was on their old site when I saw a demo/shareware for Terminal Velocity. I had seen a video on it before, and since I was just getting into DOS emulation with Boxer on Mac, I gave it a go. Took no time at all to install, and I spent hours playing it over and over again. Once I saw the anthology on Steam (for Mac), I wanted to get it. But I never got around to it.

(EDIT) Might as well answer the first question too.

First Apogee game I ever played was Duke 3D. I had just signed up for GOG and was looking for games to buy. First ones I got were the Fallout trilogy and realMyst. Then I saw this thing for Duke 3D. It looked so different from the shooters I played at the time (mostly Call of Duty, being the dumb kid I was at the time). But it had looked so awesome. Thankfully, I still had some money left on a gift card, so I got it immediately.

From the moment I started it, it was special. The guns, the one-liners, the strippers, the violence. It sucked me in and kept a hold of me for hours on end. I ended up playing through the entire game in one night. That game got me hooked on old-school shooters and Apogee/3D Realms, and I've been playing those games ever since.

Im very sad that the gog versions of Duke Nukem got removed from here.
I remember playing Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition with my little brother on our first PC. It was badass!

I have even now the DOS version of Shadow Warrior and Rise of Triad somewhere in my house.
To replay this Anthology would be a blast from past.

Thanks for the giveaway Firebrand9 !
You rock bro +1
Always liked the game wacky wheels and would spend hours just playing the shareware version, it was good good times when I was younger playing that game.

Never have yet played the full version.

The punchline is he is going to come back in here and ask for proof, which he will be given, which he will totally forget about in a few days from now when he comes back in here and tries this shit again, and gets called out for, and ask for proof, and is given, and totally forgets about in a few days when he comes back here and tries this shit again, and gets called out for it, and.... :P

Ehh... Well, I hope there's not much of this, because frankly I have better things to contend with, but, for the sake of argument for ME, the guy giving away this collection, can you provide evidence so I can rule these sorts out?

This is the thread where the previous owner of the account announced he was giving up and giving it away. On a side not I'll also mention that all of us who are getting mass derepped every day lose the exact same amount of points that he gains at the exact same time.....every day.

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogfix_the_rep_or_delete_my_account_now/page1

And here is the thread where he really hit his stride with BS:

OT, where is your avatar from? It reminds me of the old NES game Trojan.

Also watch tinye's and my rep, it'll probably shoot down quite quickly here soon.
