I have a few ideas but none of them make sense because you say that even though it does not cost money, there is money involved.. Really struggling with that fact.

which is correct - but do not be to caught up on it. Money is involved, but just as with seeing [censored], it is not directly involved. But just as with many other things, it revolves around some concepts of money. It is partly at the heart of the matter.
