With our celebration of the 15th Anniversary in full swing, we thought that besides all the cool releases, discounts, an ongoing giveaway and more, we’d share some cool things about GOG with someone incredibly important to us – you.

And since it is our 15th birthday, we’ve gathered 15 fun facts about us. Hope you’ll enjoy the read!

And speaking of beginnings, did you know that before GOG, the founders of CD PROJEKT sold physical copies of games? That’s right, gotta get that experience going!

We also have some cool achievements when it comes to playing the games. Our Stream Team Coordinator, Piran Jade, is #10 in the world for Jill of the Jungle speedruns.

To stay on the topic of games for a little longer, did you know that you can use a famous Konami Code on GOG's main page for a surprise easter egg? Try it and tell us what it does!

Adding to that, one of the most famous FPS god-mode cheat codes is actually a valid GOG redeem code. Go to our redeem page and see if you can guess what it is!

And since Phantom Liberty is just around the corner, we thought it would be a good time to mention that GOG’s biggest Cyberpunk 2077 fanatic (self-proclaimed, but we believe her) has over 1000 hours in the game. Anyone can beat that?

Something that we’re super happy to share is that to date, we’ve fulfilled more than 2.9MLN community wishlist votes. We’re ready to do our best to pump up those numbers even higher!

And since we love good old games, we’ve also checked how much older is the oldest game on GOG ( Akalabeth: World of Doom) when compared to our youngest employee. The answer to that is more than 20 years!

Now, as a company full of gaming enthusiasts we have plenty of quirks and preferences. Let’s explore them a little bit.

Let’s start with the fact that we have meeting rooms named after places from many classic games. That means we sometimes get called to meet at places like Erathia, Khorinis, or Tristram.

And that “gamification” can also be seen in other aspects in our company:

Horizon Zero Alcohol, Assassin's Spritz, Phantom Libre-ty, Divinity: Original Gin – those are some of the names we use for drinks during company’s parties.

Speaking of parties, Halloween ones are always something to remember. Lots of us dress up as game characters and otherwise, and we even hold contests for the best costume!

GOG is all about games, people, and… pets, it seems!

When it comes to the eternal question of dogs vs cats, it turns out our employees lean more towards feline pets. Around 47% of employees voted for cats, close to 41% chose dogs, and the rest deemed the question too difficult to answer!

But it is the dogs of GOG employees that visit the office regularly. 9 of them in fact, and they do their best to help us in work, as you can see on the picture.

We’ve also counted from how many countries did GOG employ people over our 15 years of activity. Answer to that is 33! All of them with one thing in common – love for video games.

Now, something that isn’t in common (and there are some really strong preferences about this topic) is that which Heroes of Might and Magic III town is the best one. But when we asked, the most frequent answer was Necropolis (followed closely by Castle). Surely they don’t abuse the necromancy skill, right?

Let’s end on some sweet note. We have a special place in the office for sweets for the Art Team to “appreciate them”. Want your request done quickly? Gotta bring some candy.

And there you have it, 15 fun facts about our company. We hope you enjoy reading through them as much as we’ve enjoyed gathering them. Now let’s go back to celebrating! After all, the 15th Anniversary happens only once in 15 years! We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

With IDDQD you can redeem the "GOG Galaxy Integration Demo". This sounds like it would be interesting to programmers but there are no downloads in the library. The game card is completely empty.

It's Galaxy-Only, like Gwent. I have beaten it 100% lol.

That's debatable, many factors come into equation. Early game Necropolis isn't that good, mid to late game is where they shine, especially if you have Cloak of the Undead King. Castle is probably overall best balanced from start til the end. Inferno is just pathetic and i find it to be weakest of all the towns. If the game takes too long, doesn't matter which town you have as long as you have Expert Diplomacy (with the big possibility of strongest creatures on the map joining you) + the spells Dimension Door and Town Portal for easier map movement.
You lucky ducks, I wish I could get Milky Splash toffees here that easily. :)

First time I see a non-blue moderator.
Very good the part of the Famous Konami Code, will you guys be adding more? But the one with the snake is great too.
Nice to see a variety of games represented.

(I'm proud to have helped kickstart the Akalabeth release; however isn't there an even older game on GOG, like an Activision text adventure or Softp*rn? Not a big deal imo, but I do want the truth ;) Admittedly I did just skim the article.)

I don't really get people who base which faction is their favorite on how "strong" it is. For me it's the "theme" that comes first, which is why Rampart is hands down my favorite. The only "mechanical" reason (though I guess it's part of the theme too) for me liking/disliking towns is the limit on the Mage's Guild levels. That's why I dislike Stronghold and Fortress so much. But Necropolis may still be my ultimate least liked faction. I just don't like playing as the bad guys, and even if someone could 100% prove they're the "best" faction, I still wouldn't want to play it.

GOG.com: [...] the oldest game on GOG ( Akalabeth: World of Doom) [...]
AFAIR, that's only the oldest game sold individually. Without looking, I think there's at least one or two (in the Zork bundle?) that are technically older -- and, of course, if you count reimplementations, remasters and remakes, there are probably several titles in the catalogue that are older "in a way" (like the recent Colossal Cave Adventure remake).
No one will ever beat my eternal record of 1660 points in GOG's Snake.

Yeah, balance is not really Heroes 3's strong suit.

As for my favorite town in 3, it's easily Dungeon with Fortress close 2nd.

Also, for any enthusiasts of Heroes music, make sure to check this out:

I'd vote for Dungeon first as well - Black Dragons are one of the strongest units (though their magic resistance means you can't buff them up with your own spells) and the Mana Vortex is an incredible boost for spellcasters (and, if they have Town Portal with Expert Earth Magic, they can use the excess mana to zip around all your towns on a recruiting frenzy).

I would argue for Rampart as second though - Gold Dragons are no pushover (debating dragon abilities is no doubt going to start a new type of "flame war" - heh heh) and the intermediate units (Grand Elves, Unicorns) are strong too (Ents are a bit of a waste of wood though). It's hidden strength though is the Dwarven Treasury (+10% to remaining gold each turn) - have a couple of those and you can end up with exponentially increasing (and insanely high) amounts of gold. Rampart has the best graphics and music too.

Castle comes in third simply because of the Archangels - though Armageddon's Blade campaign players can justifiably substitute the Elemental Conflux with its Phoenix instead.

Fortress would rank bottom - lots of special abilities, but the creatures just don't have enough speed/initiative to use them to best effect. Even their Hydra is slow. Necropolis scores better thanks to Vampires' regeneration and Lich's ranged attack - Ghost Dragons are pretty meh.

We really should be having this debate in the Heroes of Might and Magic game forum though...

I was talking more about the theme and design of the towns, not their power.

There is so much blatantly overpowered/underpowered stuff in Heroes 3, it's not really even worth talking about :P Heroes 5 did much, much better in that regard.
Man, as I was reading...

...it automatically translated in my head to IDDQD, which happens to be a code that can be redeemed.

It kind of amazes me how my brain has decided that some of these codes deserve a privileged place, ready to pop up when needed, even decades after they were last used.
